[Mist] Names for artifacts needed!

One last challenge before Halls of Mist 1.4 is ready: creating a new, non-Tolkinean set of artifacts.

I've already got a list of names and types for melee weapons. (In parentheses: number of blows and base damage -- damage is non-randomized now.)

Leather Gloves 'Blinding Fist' is cool. I presume it has to do with speed of the attack (+DEX), not the effect.

Sorry, Mathemagical Calculations is already an artifact! The full name is The Book of Magic Spells 'Mathemagical Calculations'. 'Necronomicon' is similar.

The Wizard's Robe 'Axiomatic' might fit?

Yeah - it should evoke an idea of punches/hand motions too fast for the eye to track properly, not literal blinding.

Sorry, Mathemagical Calculations is already an artifact! The full name is The Book of Magic Spells 'Mathemagical Calculations'. 'Necronomicon' is similar.

How about the Silk Gloves of Ensnaring? They give you the power to create spider webs that trap passers-by. Kind of a play on "silk".

War Bow 'Vanquisher' is cool!

Silk Gloves of Ensnaring, hmm. That sounds like an activated ability that leaves a trap -- doable. But there's currently no "hold person" status effects in Mist other than sleep, and I don't think I want to add one.

I updated the list in the first post.

I think the name 'Blinding Fists' works better for a set of cesti than for leather gloves. Cestus is similar in function to a boxing glove.

Oh, I didn't explain what the text (double pval while blessed) means. Blessed doesn't mean the "Bless" status effect. Rather, these artifacts are more poweful when you have the long-term or permanent blessing of the right goddess.

I renamed the robe to The Wizard's Robe 'Hidden Axiom'. Axiomatic sounded too much like an ego item.

I associate the word "Axiom" with law and reality. I think one of its abilities might be dissolving nearby mist phantasms.

I added some names, mostly semi-obscure names from Arthurian myth. These artifacts are from Thornwild, the realm of the black forest and faeries.

This is boring, actually. I need to avoid generic fantasy names without personality, especially since no-one will know my mythic heroes beforehand.

There's loads of good stuff in Norse mythology, I think. Have a gander at some of the names here:

Jörmungandr
Sleipnir (for boots, perhaps?)
Fenrir (for a cloak? "Fenrir's Hide"?)

(and of course the gods themselves, Loki, Odin and all their aliases.)
