Just wondering if Zangband is still being maintained, doesn't specifically say it isn't anywhere, it's just that I haven't noticed any activity for a long while.
Is Zangband being maintained?

I think Z+Angband is its successor, which was developed as recently as three years ago: http://angband.oook.cz/variants.php?variant=zplustakkaria whispers something about options. -more-Comment

As far as I know we stopped work in Zangband waaay back when and no-one took it up. I play with the idea of reviving it from time to time but dont think its likely any time soon and to be honest the current state of the art coding is probably beyond my more modest skills. I keep zangband.org up because of the many, many wonderful memories.Comment

z+angband
I'm a big fan of Zangband, i came back here after a long absence... The latest Zangband download still works, but could do with some polish. I tried Z+Angband and it works great so far (only done first 20 levels on a char). I could add the 32x32 gervais tiles to Z+ too (separate dowload) and that way everythign looks a lot nicer (if that's your thing). Many thanks to the developers of Z and Z+ !Comment

I started (and have since abandoned) a Z+ tileset long long ago. It's a modified Gervais 32x32 tileset. Using it would probably be easier than starting to make your own from scratch. Follow the link in my sig to the Z+ folder.www.mediafire.com/buzzkill - Get your 32x32 tiles here. UT32 now compatible Ironband and Quickband 9/6/2012.

Zangband graphics help
I have Lubuntu 13.04. I got Zangband from the ubuntu software repository, but I can't figure out how to get graphics.
There was one mode -xpja?? called projected that had nice graphics but it only would use the top half of my screen. On a netbook that was a no-go.
I tried typing different things at the command prompt -b, -g whatever. Do I have to download a tileset? If yes, where do I put it?
And forget about Z+, i talked to the developer, he uses windows and didn't know how I could compile it on linux.
Is there any other kind of Angband besides vanilla with the little tiles that I can play without a huge hassle setting it up? I know most people here like the punctuation (and are also a lot more computer proficient than me.)
Thanks in advance for any help.Comment

FAangband tile support is pretty good, and it bears a superficial resemblance to Zangband (ie there's a wilderness). Any feedback on the tile support welcome, too.One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

Thanks guys, I will try both. I played Zangband back in 2003 and had a lot of fun. I did like the wilderness, multiple towns, and quests, but I don't need "nutso" per se. I just want something that I can get working on Linux with cute little tiles. I'll bother you again if I need more help.Comment
