Detect Power spell - when my wizard used it, the status on objects marked "unusual" in my pack didn't change. Is that working correctly? I had assumed it would do more than just the usual class pseudo-ID, but maybe that was a mistaken assumption.

Every class has a different psudo-id system. It may be that detect power (in this case) matches your system... Anyway, the psedo-id logic should be overhauled, so for now I'll only fix obvious bugs, like changing {average} to {uncursed} for warriors using Detect Magic scroll (fixed in SVN, will be in beta2).

Hello, everyone! I have some bugs to report with the beta from Feb 5th. 2 things:

          1. Frequent crashing when going upstairs or downstairs in towers. If you can't recreate it I'll post a savefile.

          2. The 'friendly' knights templar with me in the Hornburg keep casting spells splashing damage everywhere and causing confusion. I keep seeing messages like "the Maia Istari has attacked one of us!" (yes, my cheesy char class). When there's no monsters around, they start throwing spells at me, and if I don't move out of sight, they'd kill me...

EDIT: Oh and one more thing. Are you planning on including eagles and dwarves in the Battle of 5 Armies someday? That would be cool, right now it's the Battle of 2 Armies. Heh.

I got a "BUG: Forgetting something on an object we shouldn't forget. Please report." bug last night when I read a *ID* scroll on my cap of Thranduil. Using 0.6.2b.

Thank you. I'll put this and the other bugs on Berlios, as soon as it's alive again. (I'll report the crash I've introduced recently to the home knowledge screen, too --- marking so that I'll not forget.)

Can't reproduce here, indeed and I don't thing this was changed in SVN. Savefile would be appreciated. Which tower? Windows?

You mean confusing the character? I think it's forbidden by the code. Confusing allies? That would be bug as well.

Yes, I guess the kills of your allies count for you (XP, for instance) thus the message.

You mean your allies target you? Are they still marked as allies when they do that? Perhaps they've turned hostile to the whole world when they were hit by the other allies?

Would be cool indeed. Right now the format of dungeon.txt is too simple for that, but some day...

Edit: home knowledge crash not mine, after all. Fixed in SVN.

Also, another bug: I'm in the black market in laketown. There's a book of fire magic there. When I 'l'ook at it, and try to browse the 'wall of fire' spell (letter m), the game consistantly crashes. It seems to be the only one book, the one spell, in the one shop. I've tried browsing other spellbooks in the same shop and tried browsing the same spell in other shops, and it all works fine.

Well, to clarify, not confusion literally, but they are constantly targeting squares next to me with ball attacks regardless whether an enemy is nearby. Or me, I can't tell, but they are still marked as allies. The message about being attacked is said by one of MY allies... Do they think I've attacked them because they hit themselves with their own ball attacks? Seeing as I get credit for kills and attacks made by allies, they might think I've attacked them when they hit themselves with splash damage. Strangely, when they stand next to me, they don't throw spells.

Magical Bag of Helpful Mushrooms - it doesn't swallow Mushrooms of Cure Cuts. They sit separately in the inventory.

I received a bug message tonight, using scroll of Word of Recall from the top level of Barrow Downs. Attaching savefile in case you need it.
Bug: Bad maze on level. Please report.

Here is a savefile with the stair crash. Just try to go upstairs the first turn.

Off the subject - I was just thinking that now that dungeons are referenced by levels rather than the kinda deprecated "X feet" (50 feet per depth), that it would be nice if towers would give a message like "It looks to be about 40 floors (or stories) high" instead of "2000 ft high."

Found a crash. Happened while looking at the spells listed on a Flame rune stone. I think it was the first spell listed, Fire Bolt II or something along those lines. The only option changed on this character is center_player and I doubt that's related. Unfortunately, since I'd just found that stone and the game wasn't saved, I can't investigate further unless I get lucky and find another one.

You know they target any place that you target? If you don't target anything, probably the target point is by default on you. That is explained in the help note about battles. I guess you receive it _after_ your first battle is over. If so, that is the (documentation) bug. But, of course, the battle AI can be improved if you understand it and have ideas...

Thanks a lot. Will fix. Edit: Won't fix because I cannot reproduce it with the savefile. Even valgrind is silent. Could you please wait for beta2 (should be out real_soon_now) and check again? Perhaps the bug is fixed, by chance. If not, it may be architecture-specific, which would be very bad...

A good idea. Is "floors" or "stories" more ancient sounding? Or anything else?

Added to the report. I also disabled the message unless cheat_xtra is set. We have enough reports for this one; especially with yours savefile. Now let's hope somebody is summoned by someone to fix it.
