question about randarts memory in Faangband

    Good day,
I have a question about randarts in Faangband. I notice the artifact knowledge shows a lot of randarts which my character never laid his hands on, some of which appear to be quite powerful. Yet, the option to lose artifacts when leaving a level has always been off. My question is the following. I imagine I cannot get the artifacts which appear in the artifact knowledge, is there an infinite quantity of randarts created, or do I need to settle for standarts if I fail to grab the randarts before the game runs out of them? I play a fairly recent build of the game (late October 2024). Thank you.

A set number of randarts is generated at the start of the game, and then the entire set of artifacts - standard and random - is treated the same. The only difference between standard and random artifacts is that the random ones change fro game to game.
Note that rings and amulets, which are in some ways like mini-randarts, do not work like this - the game will just keep on generating new ones.

Thanks for the answer. Does that means I can still collect randarts which appear in artifact memory? The reason I ask is I could not possibly have forgotten all the artifacts I see there. I'll take this one as an example...
      randart sword
It's not a particularly good weapon for dealing damage, but I've been starved for speed items for much of the game. If I had found a sword with +12 speed, I would have noticed, especially since this one gives an elemental immunity.

Ah, I see. If you see it in the artifact knowledge, it *should* mean you have found it; if you haven't, that might indicate a bug. I will have to do some checking.

Thanks. I can create an issue on Github if that would help.

            That's a good idea.
