Hey, If you're still working on this, I think a possessor changing bodies should be noted in the character notes page automatically, so I can see what my body progression was.

Lolll I implemented Canine race. Its STUPID HARD.

2 Rings, 1 amulet, body, cloak, head
King is Draugluin, artifact cloak (Pelt of Draugluin, +speed, stealth, tohit+damage, decent AC).

Start with a ring of damage
Level, Body progression, melee damage, hit die, Speed:
      L1-2 Scruffy Dog d1, 6, 0
      L3-5 Jackal d1, 7, 0
      L6-9 Wolf d6, 10, 0-5
      L10-17 White Wolf d3+d4, 12, 5-10 Gain res_cold here onward
      L18-29 Warg d8, 15, 10
      L30-50 Wolf Chieftain 2d6+2d6+2d10, 20, 10
Skills slowly improve. Stealth is lower for Jackal-Wolf, then rises again.

Blink Dogs, werewolves, and Hellhounds didnt fit with the others.

Let me know if you want the updated monster, race, and artifact edit files

To make this easier, considering adding a boot slot for wolf+ (hind legs). Going to boost ring slots to 4 for Jackal+.

Sounds cool. I wish I had time to play. I've had good luck with RePos.

          Epic necro!

So... I recompiled it, but somehow the edit files are missing Fighting skill abilities for all the monster races. Playing as a Troll with no fighting ability is not cool. Had to read ?bless or hero or berzerk just to hit Dlvl 1 enemies

Does anyone have the 0.99 edit files for monster.txt?

As with so many questions, the answer is found in the the Angband Variant Repository.

Specifically, here is the file you want.
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

I opened the file, it looks just like the one I was using before.
For example, Skeleton kobald is missing the
c:fightingskills line, defaulting all to 0. Monster and possessor classes are also 0 skills.

In other words, this is going to be an intense edit files effort.

Right, sorry, I misread your post - I thought you didn't have the file.

I don't think there was much more ever done by anyone on original Pos - you could try looking at RePosband (an attempt to port Pos to V3.2), or see whethere what Chris has done in PosChengband is useful.

RePosband seemed to crash and generally be unstable for me. Also it doesnt have summoning and town quests. Idk how to reimplement that because I havent looked at the source code, so I'd rather just re-do edit files. I will look at the edit files to copy over ideas, thanks!
Also, I like the original Pos shop interface better.

One thing I would want to do is change levelup requirement curve for monsters/possessors. Eventually the innate speed/resists/ac/stats is so powerful you should levelup slower (levels 30-45) to compensate.
