    The UnFellowship of the Ring

I've created a couple of the Fellowship of the Ring characters with their goodies in UnAngband, attached to a zipfile on this post. Comments/suggestions are welcome.

I only made Aragorn (Dunedan Ranger), Gandalf (Maiar Mage - sorry Eddie, but a beginning Thaumaturgy specialist's title is 'Conjuror,' which was too good to pass up), Frodo (Hobbit Thief) and Samwise (Hobbit Artisan), because I had trouble rolling ego weapons (Sam had to settle for a dagger of Gondolin instead of Westernesse ), particularly bows and hard armor. Also, wood-elves can't be rangers or archers in Un (which I think ought to change), so that kind of sunk Legolas. I was sort of shooting in the dark in terms of Un's complicated stats, so hopefully they make some sense. Anyway, I submit them for your guilty pleasure, or for Nick in case he wants to make one of them into a comp char. Enjoy.

No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

Ahh coolness. Thanks for the tip. I still wonder why archers and rangers should be greyed out for wood-elves, given their description in help...

Thaumaturgy is definitely the right one - its fire magic primarily, and will have random spell efffects for most of the attack spells. Gandalf also didn't teleport much...

I think you can manipulate the ego type using wizard commands.

Also, wood-elves can't be rangers or archers in Un (which I think ought to change), so that kind of sunk Legolas.
Its not that they can't, but you're warned that they're more difficult. Any character which has excessively high and low stats is a bit of a glass battleship and should be treated as 'advanced'.

I was sort of shooting in the dark in terms of Un's complicated stats, so hopefully they make some sense.
There's only two more: Size and Agility (think Speed).

        Will do.

I saw the title of this thread and thought (hoped) that within would lie a description of an undead version of the Fellowship of the Ring. Like, the Fellowship of the Ringwraiths.

Or maybe just a version where they all hated each other. I can see it now - Sam eating the food too fast; Gimli going nuts on the miruvor and vomiting in Bill's saddle bags; Aragorn and Boromir niggling each other about who's going to be boss when they get to Gondor; Pippin and Merry being constantly irritating and Gandalf hitting them with his staff; Frodo putting on the ring and stealing everyone's stuff; and everyone annoyed by 'Ooh, I'm immortal' Legolas.

This is what we would have seen in the movies if Aaron Spelling had directed.

I've tried using the "object playing routines" (debug command "o"), then rerolling for "excellent" versions of the item, but it seems with bows and hard armor, gear with high pvals count as {excellent}, so it's all but impossible to roll a proper ego.

Is there a more direct way to tinker with the items?
