[HoM] Installing Halls of Mist on Linux

I got the source code for Halls of Mist off Tangar's variant list and am trying to install it on a Linux machine that I have set up. However, there is no autoconf.sh and ./configure is saying no such file or directory.

Perhaps my Linux skills are just rusty, but how do I get this isntalled?
I'm trying to think of an analogy, and the best I can come up with is Angband is like fishing for sharks, and Sil is like hunting a bear with a pocket knife and a pair of chopsticks. It's not great. -Nick

Unpacking the archive, changing directories to the src subdirectory in the unpacked result, and then running "make -f Makefile.std" worked to build it on Debian Buster (you may want to edit Makefile.std to choose a different combination of CFLAGS and LIBS).

Unfortunately, running it (change directories back to the top level of the unpacked archive and then run "src/mist") bailed out on the splash screen with a parser error while reading rooms.txt.
