Artifact Rings in 4.2.1 and fighters

I wish there a slot or two in randarts in 4.2.x for rings that would be likely to benefit fighter-types. As is, the rings almost always benefit pure spellcasters more than any other class, and someone playing a fighter will end up ignoring most of the rings he/she finds.

The two main reasons for this is that in most cases (barring an unusual artifact that allows more flexibility), a fighter needs a ring for speed and a ring for damage.

Occasionally, a big combination of dex/strength on a ring might be a substitute for damage, though not usually. Rings often have damage bonuses but typically only low ones. Similarly, rings often have speed advantages but typically not enough to replace a RoS unless the player has been lucky getting other speed in his/her other gear.

It would be interesting have one or two rings that would be more likely to suit a fighter, either by providing more damage or speed than normal, or by making up for the loss in other ways, such as being more likely to provide extra blows, adding good slays, etc.

Another thing that has not even been tried in Angband, I think, would be a slay based on blows rather than just multiplying damage--i.e., adding extra blows against certain types of creatures.

I think it would be possible to be imaginative and think of more things, too.

I'm not asking for much--I understand why rings benefit pure spellcasters more than other classes. I would just like one or two ring slots only to be a little more warrior-oriented.

The elven rings each give +5 speed, a bit of damage, and pluses to all three combat stats. They definitely work as the speed ring for most characters, especially since they free up the helmet slot for something better than ESP.

I've found randart rings that give +1 extra attacks or that brand my melee attacks with poison. These are warrior rings

I don't even think there are "elven rings" in 4.2.x, are there? I just get random randart "bands." In any case, +5 speed is not enough for the speed ring in most circumstances.

My experience has been that extra attacks from rings is very rare.
