How do I change default birth options permanently?

So after playing angband for a while, I switched to randarts and I like it

I would like to make it so I don't have to change it in the birth options for every character I start.

There much be a way to edit a text file to change the default...

If you play a new game from your old dead character file, it will have the same birth options.
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

It also chooses the same name and save file - it's awkward.

I'd rather just edit a startup file or something.

I believe when it loads up a dead/retired character you get the choice to make a new one (read the bottom options), your birth options as well as keymaps/etc. will all be carried over while you can choose a new race/class/stat allocation and finally name.

Haha, I'm with you. I resisted playing randarts for ages mostly just for nostalgia reasons. Then I played a couple with randarts and realised just how OP they are, now I can't go back (I'm also a bit sloppy as a player, so it balances out). Sometimes I forget to set my birth options and find one of the thancs and just quit out.

The best thing about randarts is the number of torch/Phial artifacts. Without it's just the same old, same old and they're all a bit crap. Imagine getting +5 speed, +5 con with a Galadriel alternative

I love Randarts. They actually changed my view on RPGs in general. Once I started playing with randarts in Angband, I was so excited by the prospect of finding artifacts that nobody else will ever find. It actually kind of ruined loot in any other games to some degree.
