Where can I find more information re:spells?

I'm confused with how spells work for this new version.

For example, I've leveled a paladin to 25 and currently have 5 outstanding spells to learn. But I've learned everything from the first book. The second book available from the Temple does not allow me to learn from it or browse it.

Where can I find out the spell progression for each class?

You can look at the class.txt file in your lib/gamedata directory. Paladins only use three books, and two of them are dungeon books.
