Is RSound Essential?

Just lost my best character in a while - clvl 45 Dwarf Priest - to an instadeath from summoned Plasma hounds. I was knocked out before I had a chance to act.

Do most people prioritize RSound over RNexus, RDark, etc? It doesn't seem like there are any dangerous sound breathers, but I forgot about the stun resist.

Does a certain stat give you higher stun resistance? I had maxed CON and WIS, but my DEX was only 18/40.

Breath-stunning becomes more dangerous the deeper you get, whereas things like nexus get less dangerous. Deep in the dungeon I would give it similar priority to RChaos, and certainly above RLite and RDark (provided I had RBlind), RNexus, RShards and RNether.

You answered your own question there

RSound is important. Getting knocked out sucks, a lot. Remember though that even if you have RSound, Mystics can still knock you out in melee.

I'll try to keep it on after statgain from now on. I had it available on a swap shield, but obviously that didn't do any good.

I don't know about most people, but I certainly prioritize it over Nexus. Once your stats are maxed Nexus is not essential- the worst thing about it is getting tele'd off a level with good stuff, or getting tele'd out of a vault when you've already tele'd a lot of dangerous stuff away. I have been known to carry a swap for rDark- it's not important most of the time, but when it is it is quite important.

rSound isn't absolutely essential (unlike say, rBase, you can win without ever having it) but I've lost a fair number of good characters to not having it when quite deep. I'd prioritize it pretty high.

My best char so far (which wasn't that great, only dl '2500 or so) died by going down the stairs into a nest of plasma hounds that stunned him to death. I'm making rSound a higher priority now
