    Angband 4.1.2

Angband 4.1.2 is now available for Windows and macOS and as source (zipfile or tarball); rephial should be updated before too long has been updated to deliver the new version.

The latest official version of Angband fixes bugs in 4.1.1 and makes some other small improvements. It is intended that this is the last in the 4.1.x series, although there may be a 4.1.3 if enough bugs emerge.

    Enjoy!

Just in time to locate Father Christmas and his elves.

I was looking to upgrade my friend's windows machine to the latest version but couldn't locate his savefile in windows disk browser. I know on my mac they get saved in Documents:Angband:save, is there a similar location on Windows?

In Windows it's in the Angband folder, in lib\user\save.

I might be a little slow to catch up -- the last time I was active in Angband online was around v2.9.4, after Ben Harrison became dormant.

Anyway, all of these problems are cosmetic and are not specific to v4.1.2:
                  • Father Christmas and the red-hatted elf don't have tiles. (Guess what day it is!)
                  • One that dates to when "A" was changed from Angel to Ainur: if the other Istari are "A", so should Saruman.
                  • In the Elven Cloak description, "Galadhrim" is misspelled.
                  • One that's been around since at least v2.4.f-k: "Carcharoth, the Jaws of Thirst" is a rather strange name, since Carcharoth means "the Red Maw", and "Jaws of Thirst" is the translation of Anfauglir, the other name for Carcharoth. So we may want to rename that to either "Carcharoth, the Red Maw" or "Anfauglir, the Jaws of Thirst".

Thanks, noted. On the last, I think "Carcharoth, the Red Maw" is preferable.

                      new user interface option

There is a new user interface option to show speed as multiplier.

May i ask where it is shown when activated?

Thanks, merry christmas and a happy new year 2018!

It's in the sidebar in place of the usual speed display.

Can it be that it still starts with normal instead of x1.0 ? I am rather sure i activated this user interface option and it showed still "normal" at the speed display. Meanwhile i noticed it! Great stuff ...

                            speed multiplier

                            Hi there,

i switched back to the old speed display. If you are at speed 17 and see instead x2.7 you think you are more than double as fast as the monsters. That is not true for monsters who move quickly or faster. That tricks you (at least me) into playing to risky. Does it make sense to show speed multiplier compared to the fastest monster?

(late) Merry X-mas and thank you!

Thanks for all the great continued work on the game! My first warrior victory came at 23:58 Christmas night, was a fresh char in 4.1.2, so a lucky version!
