which Variants have graphics?

are there any other variants out there with graphics / tiles? i'm looking to move from V for a while but really cannot cope with the ASCII gameplay.

FAangband has graphics (and also many wilderness levels).

PWMAngband too, and you can even use NotEYE to play as 3D FPP.

Just play locally with the options REPORT_TO_METASERVER = false and TURN_BASED = true. Don't forget to launch both executables (mangband + mangclient).

MAngband and TomeNET don't have graphics, they're based on a version of the Angband code where graphics were broken.

Well, the better question is still 'which variants don't have graphics' rather than 'which variants have graphics' which is what I was trying to get across.

i haven't really tried many since, well, 2007. back when tiles were a new thing. i think back then only V and FA had graphics. Is Z still ASCI-only ?

Z was long-dead by 2007 but yeah it has graphics support.

You should probably try and come up with a different way to choose between variants since as far as I'm aware they pretty much all support graphics.

i'm trying TOME2 now - being that i have tried 3 and 4 and they are weird and non-angband-ish. I'm trying to figure out HOW TO EVEN LEARN MY SPELLS.

V4 has just so much better of a UI.

You don't "learn" spells in TOME2 like in other variants, if you have the book and enough skill in that school you can cast the spells.
