Macintosh OSX 3.0.9b: Out of memory error?

I customized my monsters.txt file with...a lot...of creatures (culled from ZAngband, Moria, UnAngband, etc.)—enough to push the total to 730. I made sure to tell limits.txt that there would be 730 creatures in there. But when I started up, I got an "out of memory" error at line 9820. Any idea what's causing that? Limits.txt isn't supplying any clues...

    Try upping it to 731.

It doesn't work. It still says the "out of memory" occurred at line 9820—which is a middle line of the D section.

I still have a copy of the original monster.txt, at least, so I can go back to baseline (well, a baseline where Glaurung has the FORGET flag...). I just wish I had some idea of what's going on...

You could try increasing this value:

        # Size of the "fake" array for reading in names of monsters, objects,
        # artifacts, store-owners, player-races, ...
        M:N:20480

        - say double it?

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

It worked after increasing the M:T value. My thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
