    It's not x vs. y. It is x+y vs. z.

I presented the information from monster.txt not to make an argument, just to provide data to help other people make their own judgements. I've checked out of the overall "shards vs. disenchantment" thing because I've presented my point, you've presented yours, and there's really nothing more to be gained. Neither of us believes the other is right and neither of us is able to convince the other, so we're done here. Agreed?

So what I'm hearing is for 4.2 shards and disenchantment both need to be more dangerous. Got it

          Sounds good to me!

Seriously though, aether vortices are missing BR_DISE, that's the most obvious error discovered.

Also, just checked the edit files, and storms of unmagic need to be way eviler, like in O. Add time and chaos breath, KILL_WALL...

Oh hey, almost forgot. Add Wiruin, just because.

You could always add Unmakers ala Sangband...
So you ride yourselves over the fields and you make all your animal deals and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

Sangband? I though those were from Hengband. Anyway, for those unfamiliar: KILL_WALL, breaths, big melee damage and BREED EXPLOSIVELY. Ugh, though I suppose it would be roughly the only situation where scrolls of "sterilization" are actually not worthless...

Have a couple of questions myself...

                  1. I have a torch but certain tunnels I go down are not lighting up(??)
                  2. I have a spell book and have levelled up but I cannot learn anymore spells from it. Do I have to buy a better spell book and do you always need to be carrying it in order to cast?

Yes. Note that only the first four books can be bought; the ones past those must be found. The stronger (in theory), the deeper.

                      Yes.
                      Thanks.

Are they simply called Book 1,2, 3 etc? I don't remember seeing them in the shop.

No, they have proper titles. Note that you find the books for mage classes (mage, rogue, ranger) in the magic shop, whereas the books for priest classes (priest, paladin) are sold in the temple.

Ah, that explains why the one I bought was no use to me. Thanks

This game is great. The more you scratch the surface the more you find.

Can someone explain the resistance page of your character screen a little. I realise the 'a to @' is your resistance rating but would do the symbols underneath mean? Do they relate to your equipment?

a, b, c, etc. refer to inventory equipment slots, so a is your weapon, b is your launcher, etc. @ is intrinsic abilities. The symbols underneath indicate if the item in the indicated slot has the ability, and * means that it gives an immunity (only possible for rFire/Cold/Acid/Elec).
