    dude, you can buy a stack of 1d4 (+0, +0) arrows from the market and enchant them to frost or lightning (+12, +12), enough for 1k dmg.

      Generally speaking, Arvedui is disposable. I've never used it at the end, don't remember seeing anyone else either.

        Time to switch to Deathwreaker and go kill Morgoth. The +4CON will take you to 750HP or better. That's enough to kill him with arrows, if you are careful and have enough suppplies. Do keep a sharp eye for slay evil/Holy Might seeker/Miithril. Wounding ammo will work very well too. Post a dump! Advice without one is often wrong.

          MY HP is 496 and my SP 305. I'm currently trying to finish off a pit of As. I used all 7 charges of my staves of power per PowerDivers suggestion, but I still struggled when I phased into a fairly large square room and had to teleport to safety since 4 Istars were all in the room with me and my health was down to 246 from a mana bolt. I really want to finish of the Istars so I can get all the loot left in the pit including a !CON and !Augmentation.

          EDIT: Cleared the pit: So far I've already found from the drops !*Healing*, 2 !healings, !CON, !INT, !AUG, 3 wands of TO, a rod of TO, several !Enlightenments, 2 ?Destruction, 2 ?DeepDescents and gained another CL with the death of the last Blue Wizard. My HP is now 551.

            Why do you wear those +6 boots of Elvenkind instead of the +10 speed boots? To me, stealth and feather falling seem much, much less important than 4 points of speed -- especially if you are below +20, because that means getting double-breathed.

              I haste self whenever its necessary since I have 313 SP. I find keeping things asleep as long as possible is very helpful. When I find good arrows I will probably go back to elvenkind shield to go back to legendary stealth. Of course there is the off chance I will go the DW route and totally rearrange my setup. I have to admit it is tempting, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable doing it with less than 800HP and I currently have 612, though that may go up when I shuffle around my gear, but I am enjoying this stealthy play with awesome spellpower.

              I guess it doesn't really matter if a swarm of black reavers and Demi-Liches are headed my way. TO some of them away and crush the others in a few rounds. I just might try it. HMMMMMMM. I have two ?DD so I could start the end bosses right now. I have 3 rods of TO to compensate the loss of SP. but no means of temporary haste self other than my spell book since I tossed my !speeds. I shoulda kept the !speeds and tossed Arvedui. I dunno why I was thinking I might use it at the end, except that it has +2 STR. That is the only reason I kept it. I'm gonna shuffle for DW and report back on my stats.

              So this isn't terrible: my SP is still 215, and I'm still not maxed on INT. I can get 4.7 Blows/round wearing <+6> CON ring, but because Oromë was providing <+4> speed, even though I have Trickery equipped I'm at 18 base speed with the <+10> boots. I guess I could try this setup against Sauron and see how it goes. I could wear Tulkas but then I will be less than 600HP. I wonder if I should wait a little longer before making the switch. If I wear Dal-a-thalion and Weaponmastery I can get my To-Dam up significantly at the cost of speed: base speed will be 10 speed instead of 18, but I'll be doing 1280 vs Undead, 690 vs animals and Evil, 886 vs Dragons. Looks like I might melee Morgoth in the end after all. 20 speed while hasted isn't bad with that sort of dam output. I have to admit I never tire of playing warrior style.

              With +18 speed setup I'm doing 1167 vs Undead, 609 vs Evil and 795 vs Dragons.

              I suppose once I find a good helm of might I might be able to swap out the CON ring for SPEED ring. I'm wondring if Tuklas will be used at all? Maybe Tulkas and ROS? Seems crazy not to use a ring of power, though. Proof against fire, ESP and Regen are kinda clutch (though for the final battle I will have lots of !Mana Restores).

              I DD with my setup before, but swapped out Ingwe for Trickery. Just quaffed another !CON and my HP went from 612 to 672.

                If you are short of CON, rings of power are not an optimal choice. They provide much less than CON ring or even Tulkas. Anyway, focus on killing Morgoth, not the optimal kit. A CL40 Ranger is already strong enough to win. Keep an eye out for Lothlorien bows(+5), which will kill Morgoth in something like 30 turns, 800+ damage per turn vs evil.

                  I am having good luck getting my CON up on DL98. Found a better "Trickery too. I'm now at 715HP and 30K away fromCL42; my CON is 18/189. I do not have any RoS, so trading a ring of power for something else isn't really realistic. Also, would have to go back and pick up Thranduil somewhere else on the level, which means TOing a bunch of stuff again (not really a big deal). I found a short bow of Lorien <+5> but it somehow does less damage than my Amrod. Well, it has X3 multiplier, and Amrod has X4. My arrows of Holy Might do 900 vs evil. But how do I get the arrows after I finish firing them? I have yet to find any other good arrows; though these arrows of lightning do 800+ and I took down a couple Dracoliches with them.

                    800 damage is *already* ridiculously high. Use the branding spell from Tenser's to make ammo that works against a majority of enemies. Save the slay evil for truly valuable targets (ie, Morgoth and possibly a couple others) CL40 Ranger is already stronger than any other class in the game, with the exception of a lucky player with an epic Sling of Buckland.

                    Pick up arrows by teleporting M when you run out. He will destroy a number of them with Mana Storm, so don't expect too much reuse.

                      Still can't decide if I want to switch to deathwreaker. I have haradrim shield so that should help against high AC targets; its Activation gives a +24 increase to-hit bonus .

                      I noticed that if I increase my INT beyond /180 the chance to fail goes down further even if my SP pool doesn't increase. I can do elemental brand with 5% fail.

                        Haradrim activation is the some as the berserk buffing spell in Tenser's. Use it and Heroism any time you fight a real opponent. The Rune of protection spell in Mb9 is good too.

                          MB9 is Kelek's Grimoire of Power? For some reason I haven't held onto that book. I think my SP pool is too low with DW to reliably haste when I needed.

                          After going to the dungeon and clearing a Demon pit with Oromë I decided it was time to acknowledge how powerful my @ has become. I went back to town, and grabbed DW. At the last minute, as I was in Recall, I dropped my last arrow of lightning (890dam/round) and grabbed the amulet of the magi I picked up from a demon drop <+4> and decided I'd swap Trickery whenever I need to cast. I think this is a brilliant solution to my low mana woes with DW. Anyway... here they come! Wondering if I will try to take on Anglican or Glaurung (I need to TO at least one of them). A beholder was never so pathetic. I dispatched him in two rounds; he couldn't do nada.

                          Glaurung came first so he got TO'd. Blink dogs messed me up and so ancient dragons were summoned when I was blinked into LOS of both Unique dragons before I could TO Glaurung. Anglican wasn't too bad; but at 729 CON I feel its a bit dicey fighting such big foes in melee. I quickly dropped to 300 health. Good thing I decided to hold onto the staff of healing; used 4 charges. I also grabbed a stack of ?recharging. I think I need to get my CON up; oh, also, I should really try Shield while fighting melee. Never tried that spell. Also to note, Coluin doesn't last long enough, even when I'm making fights short with DW. Good thing I forgot I didn't need Resistance book since I used the activation and the book.

                          It's interesting, even with double resistances when I get breathed on I feel more vulnerable than with single resist and 1000HP as a HT warrior. but I am only CL42 and I am not maxed on CON yet.

                          Anglican falls quite easily despite poor pre-fight setup.

                          Heh, I just remembered last night I dreamt that, in moment of carelessness, I stumbled upon a Jabberwock and didn't have rChaos and still had like 300HP. It was the Jabberwock's turn, but I closed my computer and went to bed, leaving it to the morning to clear the {more} prompts, hoping I wouldn't wake to a dead @, but half expecting to.

                          Found a ring of Dam [+14] but not sure if it makes sense to save it as I don't see it trumping a stat ring/Tuklas or a ring of power.

                          Just picked up Rohirrim and =Speed <+13> which can allow me to wear Thranduil and replace Narya for =Speed giving me proof against double shot when I face Morgoth. I will be taking on Sauron real soon, don't worry.

                          Glaurung no match. Shield spell makes a noticeable difference.

                            My bad. Rune is in Mordy. Kelek has *destruction* spell, also occasionally useful for ranger. Both add significant power to an already overpowered class.

                              793 health is not enough to melee someone who does 595. I can't !heal every time I go below 595 if I'm always going below 595... so I take a risk and try to phase out of the way and fail and he raw magics and I die. Think I'll stick with HT Warrior or if I'm going to be fragile ranger then I'm going to trawl the dungeon until I find good arrows next time.

                              No, I did not bring my 23 holy might arrows since I was saving them for Morgoth.

                              Anyway, this is exactly what I was afraid of. Not knowing how to play an aggravating melee with insufficient HP. Even with Shield Sauron would sometimes do 150 damage in one round of melee.

                                You can cast Rune of protection. And you can use archery with ordinary branded/enchanted arrows. Both will vastly reduce the amount of damage you take in melee.
