Do you expect this to affect your enjoyment either way? One plus is that a starting mage gets more mana before stepping into the dungeon.

AFAIAC each time you kill a new monster type it's a new experience. My sig means IMO there would need to be a compelling reason for them not to give exp.

You need to change the name of this variant to Powerband or something so that people will know it is not vanilla angband and it can be talked about in the appropriate subforum rather than in the vanilla forum.

It's more fork than variant. It's probably closer to historic angband than the main branch is at this point. Unless you're a firm believer in the apostolic succession of maintainers there's no objective answer to the question of what's V and what's a variant.
