    Thanks, guys, for the infos.

I am carrying 130 mithril arrows and running around at +27 speed and 380 melee damage to most critters per round. Though I have to swap to a weaker weapon to gain pConf. Going smoothly at 3500'.

Also, for normal monsters, quickly taking a big part of their hp away is usually enough, that will render their breath less powerful. Boss dragons need a lot of damage though before dropping breath strength

Note poison is 1/2 that, as is Acid so long as all armor slots have non-zero AC value. This means it is actually easier to take on a big acid breather than a big poison breather, because for the former breath goes like HP/6 while the latter goes like HP/3. Of course no one normally games that because acid destroys scrolls and staffs, as well as ant armor that isn't IGNORE_ACID

For the 4 base resistances and Poison, 1 resist will reduce the damage to 1/3 of the total, so a 533 max breath. 2 resists (1 permanent and 1 temporary) will reduce the damage to 1/9, so 178 max breath.

So how much damage would a 1600 breath of fire do if I have rFire from equipment as well as from a quaffed a rHeat potion?

Eventually you will meet cold and fire breathers with 1600 damage. Temporary resistance is not useless for those situations, especially if you have it via activation or spell. But by no means would I carry a pile of potions for 40 levels to have that late.

So sounds like rHeat potions are pretty useless if you already have the resistance covered.

Whelp, got my STR! and cruising very comfortably at 3,050'. If I didn't need rNexus, I'd be able to put on some big armor, but I have boots of speed I don't want to swap for stability; and the only other piece of rNexus I've found is Arvedui. Not really a big deal as I've been finding tons of good arrows and picked up Belthronding at 2600' so doing some serious bow damage. Saruman didn't even know what hit him (those were arrows of Holy Might, bud). I will do a character dump once I get a better form of rConf.

edit: +27 speed is a thing. Picked up a RoS [+11} at 2500' and a [+8] RoS just now. Have a <+5> DEX ring I can swap with one of the speed rings for da Liches and other stat drainers.

EDIT: I didn't set RandArts, but the last two artifact weapons I've had have had multiple brands, the latest with rPoison and my Totila has pConf. (I recently picked up Thunderfist and just picked up Gurthang. Both artifacts I've never seen before). Are these typical kinds or restiancs to have on artifact weapons? The Thunderfist is branded with fire and lightning and slays orcs, trolls, animals. Gurthang slays dragons powerfully and is branded with poison and fire.

Inventory damage is based on how much HP damage you take. If I recall correctly, <30 HP damage means a 1% chance for any susceptible item to be destroyed, <60 HP damage is 2%, anything else is 3%.

So it depends on what's hitting you and how much damage they're doing. Fire hounds already deal so little damage that resistance makes no difference in how badly your inventory gets toasted, but with something like a young/mature dragon, it could be relevant. Ancient dragons deal so much damage that even with double resistance you're probably still over the 3% threshold.

A stack of 2 potions of strength is nice.

How much do potions of rHeat help against fire burning up inventory?

Up to 145 dmg a round now. STR is at 18/100, bested only by WIS (which is maxed) and CON which is 18/149.

Found an Elven shield of rPoison. Damage is now 207. Cruising at 2000' and much more powerful than I was before the nexus swapping shenanigans.

My strength is already at 18/40. It's okay, I kind of prefer playing slow to diving anyway. I've never had good experience diving after level 30 anyway. And this game just reinforces that, having dove to 2000' and suffered a lot of punishment and found little good gear. So I will just clear every level and regain my strength slowly and play as normally do.

Plus, I have pretty good gear. I did pick up ESP at 2000'.

Just picked up the Short Bow of Amrod at 1600' (next level was also feeling 6). +2 Strength. +15 damage (so significantly better than my bow of power).

Strongly recommend diving to 1500'+ as fast as you can. That way events like this are less frustrating. If you see a pink Z or v, leave. Teleport away if you must. (Avoid dracolich, Greater basilisk too, tho they breath nexus a whole lot less often.)

Good to know that this swap/scrambling has been improved. I do have good damage with my bow of power [+17] and plenty of +8 arrows. My weakest arrows do 65 dmg a round and my second weakest do 81.

Anyway, I think I am going to be fine. I was having bad luck overall for like 5 hours of play for some reason. I was at 4000' and struggling and improving very slowly for awhile. Finally got my first !Augentation and more stat potions on that little ascent than I did at 4000'.

I'm a little frustrated that I am not finding items on levels, though. Again I am on level feel 6 and found nothing and the whole level looks to be explored. Not sure what gives.

Warriors are indeed the second-best archers in the game (behind rangers, of course).

What happened here is a very rare side-effect of a nexus breath. I think it's 10% of the time that you get hit by an unresisted nexus breath that you get scrambled (swapping the internal values of two stats), and even then you have to fail a saving throw -- not that warrior saving throws are all that great. At least yours is better now that your WIS is higher!

As Nick mentioned, in the current nightlies, this effect has been replaced by a temporary scrambling of your entire stat set -- every stat's internal value gets replaced by another stat's value, but you naturally recover after a short period. The effect should thus be more severe in the short term but less severe in the long term. I'd been agitating for something like this for a long time, so it's nice that it's finally in. Among other things, it's important for encouraging users to try to ID resists by use.
