Thanks! And it happens to be on my birthday, too.

Though I have a confession to make. I died to Mouth of Sauron on the level I picked up Ringil. There was absolutely no reason to continue exploring the level, but that is my bane; over eager to show my mettle. I figured with the new weapon and speed, I must be ready to take him on. I could (should) have just TO'd him or left the level before ever meeting him. I think my CON just wasn't there yet (600). As I am wont to do when I play Angband, I killed the app and reloaded. I'm gonna start another Half-Troll warrior and see if I can't win without dying. I learned a lot from that run and I am enjoying Angband as much as ever. As such, I won't post my win to the ladder.

You don't want to use Destruction directly on Morgoth; it'll banish him from the level, and when you next see him he'll be back at full health. Instead, you teleport him away, then use Destruction to get rid of his summons. Of course, if you've killed all the uniques, then you can just mass-banish instead.

    Anyway, congrats on the win!

Well that was pretty easy. Morgoth being so fast means teleporting away from him and his friends allowed me start over in a tight passageway where I could melee him again. I only got a few holy might shots on him; but they did do some damage. His summoning friends wasn't so bad. I never used my scrolls of banishment or destructions as I never needed to really. I also wasn't sure how that would play out. If you destruct, where does Morgoth go? So I just went toe to toe with him and healed up a few times (4 *healing* potions I believe, and maybe 6-8 or so healing potions). Another thing I thought worked to my advantage was his intent to destroy the dungeon continually. This gave me moments when there was rock between me and him and he couldn't attack me and I couldn't attack him. Great opportunity to heal up!

I don't know where his crown is among the rubble. I'll have to look around a bit. Maybe I'll banish the pit of As instead of dealing with them. He didn't summon any Uniques. Some greater undead, some Greater Dragons. I wonder if I killed all the Uniques? The last one I killed was cat lord. I killed like 3 Wolf lords, Mouth of Sauron, Gothmog, Witchking, Maeglin, Kronos, Firey Sun God, Terrasque, Ossë, Qzzlzzp.... Well, I may play on a bit, but I agree with what others say; once you solve your character, it is a little boring to go around slashing away with little danger. It'd kinda be fun if Terrasque was a monster and not a Unique. (Yikes!)

So I helped him out for free totally unnecessarily. Haha.

Well, I somehow lost my ring of damage and my boots of speed and stealth. Nevermind, going to face Morgoth now. Not really sure what my strategy is but I will bringing with me plenty of arrows and supplies! Any basic pointers?

The Tarrasque didnt "waste time" with wand draining; it is simply a side effect of its melee attacks to also drain wands, and heal itself in the process. the attack does damage and, if there are any charged items in your inventory, it substracts some of the charges and gains a little health in the process.

Yeah, I was kinda rethinking it and wondering maybe just best to stick with Ringil. Weighted down and running around at +39 speed is kinda fun, too.

I think you do more damage with Ringil than with the MoD. The 30 damage/round that the MoD gets you is less powerful than the +10 speed on Ringil, even if your speed is high. Also, your higher speed should enable you to make trade-offs for better utility and damage.

    pretty powerful

So I think I might actually win the game for once. Probably not, but I certainly have the equipment to do so fairly easily. I don't know all the Uniques in the game, but I think I've gotten rid of most of them. The Terrasque kept showing up when I wasn't ready. Now I am ready for him; hopefully he will show up soon!

    My character of Überstrength: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=19788

And I have met and slain the Terrasque as easily anything. I needed one heal potion and one *healing* potion and he did bring me from 700something to 200something with a disenchant breath. He kept breathing frost; I'm just like, you do realize I am immune, right? Since I have so much speed and damage, I swap out my damage ring with a rFire ring. Used it against the Terrasque. I also just happened to pick up a wand of dragonbreath; was gonna take out an acid vortex with it (not that I don't have means in my pack) but then I ended up meleeing him anyway. Point is, I didn't research the Terrasque (I don't research any of the Uniques or monsters) but I did know he breathed disenchantment from the forum and frost from experience (hah, he brought me to 10 health my last meeting with him about 15 dungeon levels earlier; had TO'd him a few times on a big vault level but I didn't see him in the corridor and he breathed disenchant and frost in immediate succession). But I figured my CON (1266) was high enough that I would be fine as long as I didn't let my health go too low. Anyway, I guess the wand was useful for something since he wasted his time draining the wand I was gonna chuck immediately anyway.

I guess Sauron is next up?

EDIT: And Sauron has fallen. He didn't teleport away as he has other times I've tried fighting him. I banished a bunch of Greater Dragons he summoned. TO'd some Greater Undead. Took a lot of damage from him; used one *healing* and about 8 healing. He dropped me gloves of combat or something useless like that. Now I'm trying to get my weight down so that with temp speed I will be at 30 speed wielding the mace of disruption: 600+ dmg per round to Morgy, and 1000+ to Undead.

getting ready to take on Terrasque

So I picked up some Balance Dragon Scale Mail Dwarven which does wonders for solving my character while giving my character an insane breath attack. The only thing my character lacks now is pStun. My question is which is more important, +4 extra stealth, +6 searching or the fast charging 500heal with Elessar? I will do a character dump soon. My character is pretty boss; insane attack, speed; Max CON and 6.0 blows around with a certain Long Sword. I also have pCold with a ring of power, and if I find pFire I'll probably take on Terrasque.

Doing a character dump cause I got some good gear and impressive damage, relative stealth, and resistances. Kinda fun.

It also depends on how deep @ is. On DL 1 through 3, a level 6 feeling is a good chance of a 'thanc dagger, a 4 feeling is a good chance of some free action gloves or boots. Important to know, especially when playing a mage. After that, the only treasure feelings that bring me to want to fully explore, though I try to resist, is an 8 or 9. But if those happen in the first 50 or so levels, it tends to be a book that more often than not is worthless to @'s class. Maybe an early potion of experience, which is a double-edged sword if you get stat drained.

Yes, I know, but I am sort of making mention when level feelings match or don't match me getting good gear. I just finished a level with 6-7 feeling, and had some trouble with some beholders and an elder vampire but no good items to be found. Dwarven full plate armor was the best item, unless a potion of Life is gonna give that good a feeling? Sure, it's a good potion to have, but 9 out of 10 times it is used to restore less than 500 health (unless, by me, since I like to wait until I'm almost dead to get as much value from *healing* potions). Potions of Life are actually annoying because they take up another inventory slot.

Keep in mind, monster drops are not included when generating level feeling. You can get great drops no matter what level feeling.
