Do mobs respawn?

I might be wrong, but i'm under the impression that if you spend enough time on a level, new groups of mobs will suddenly appear. Is this so? Or am i dreaming?
Can uniquest spawn like this? Is farming a level useful ?

Yes, and yes groups can spawn. Typically a level will get more dangerous the longer you're there, because existing monsters wake up and new ones spawn awake.

Are you sure about new monsters always spawning awake? I don't do it mostly because of the opportunity cost of no chance of finding a vault and because of aby awake monsters that I did not choose to fight. It's a slow and unprofitable way to get loot.

Monsters respawing asleep was a change made around the 3.2 release.
