    Location of Point-Based initial stats?

    Where are the "point-based" initial stats located? I'm always having to tweak the allocation of points, and if one creates a new class by adding it to the edit files, where can one set-up the initial points allocation?

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

    It's hard-coded - we should do something about that. Here are the rules:
    Code:
     * 0. buy base STR 17
     * 1. if possible buy adj DEX of 18/10
     * 2. spend up to half remaining points on each of spell-stat and con,
     * but only up to max base of 16 unless a pure class
     * [mage or priest or warrior]
     * 3. If there are any points left, spend as much as possible in order
     * on DEX and then the non-spell-stat.
    except actually casters skip step 1.

      Hmm. I think you are undervaluing DEX for priests. Without a few (3-4) points there, you are stuck at 1.0 blows absolutely forever.

        Hmmm, I am not sure that is true; the first thing I do when starting a caster is to remove all those dex points. But then, my priests usually equip rings of the mouse or escaping untill they have 600ish health, so 1.0 blows doesnt bother me.

          Yikes. the AFRAID flag on escaping is almost as bad as icky-wield for spell-casting. That is not something I would want to mess around with in the early game.

            AFRAID craps the chance of spells that are relatively high level, so once OoD becomes "low" enough, 2x escaping (with possibly an elven cloak or other minor speed bonus) basically becomes speed +10 since priest doesnt get much milage out of the next tier of spells at that time. That being said, I prefer 2x mouse.

            Edit: since I happen to play a priest right now, this is what it looks like:
