    Version upgrade questions

I want to upgrade to 4.0.4 (currently running 4.0.1), but I would like to keep my option settings and monster recall. Is that doable? Also, is it possible to continue playing my 4.0.1 character in 4.0.4, or would I have to start a new one?

Look in your user directory (\lib\user on Windows, ~/Documents/Angband on OSX, ~/.angband/Angband on Linux). There should be files called window.prf and lore.txt, which contain your subwindow setup and your monster memory. If you're on Windows, copy these files from the relevant place in the 4.0.1 folder to the same one in the 4.0.4 folder; if you're on OS X or Linux, you shouldn't need to do anything.

4.0.x should all be savefile compatible with each other, so you should be able to just load your current character into 4.0.4, and that will contain all your other options. It is a good idea to keep a backup of the savefile in case anything goes wrong, though.

Scores are in scores \lib\user\scores and window positions/sizes/font selections in main angband dir angband.ini.

Copy those too and it should be identical to your previous setting.

That sounds simple enough that even I can do it. Thanks!
