How do I load an ongoing character to the ladder?

Sorry, numpty Q I know but I'm unusual in roguelike circles in that I'm not a computing expert.

I seem to have no problem loading a dead character there but I just saved my game, tried to add the file using the exact same method to the ladder and got the message 'is this really a character dump?'

What is your "same method"? Does it differ from making chardump by "C" then "f", find the chardump in \lib\user and upload that in ladder?

You need to take a character dump in game - go to the character screen with 'C' and hit 'f' for file dump. That file is then what you load to the ladder.

Yeah, I wasn't doing that, I was using the utility command ('enter') and using save and don't quit. Ok, I'll go with that.
