    Classic looking tiles?

Hello. Long time player here (I first played back when in high school so it had to be 96 or 97). Just thought I would come back and give it a try.

I think the graphic tiles look great, but I wanted to play it as I played way back when. I thought it was just basic ascii but my game looks..."different". This is a screen shot of what I would LIKE it to look like.

Any help in getting to this would be appreciated.

Looks like it's just a different font. If this is on Windows, you will need to get a copy of the appropriate font file and put it in the lib/fonts directory - the hard bit, of course, being finding the right font.

I believe the fonts in Angband 3.2 look like that. You can probably just copy them over.

8 lines of info on the left of your screenshot do not match the rest of the screenshot. Very odd.

I also guess you need to activate the solid_walls option.

Yeah the actual screenshot isn't Angband, but another game. What I was aiming for was walls that looks like this. More solid. The solid walls option fixed it for me.

Now my next question is, is there a way to zoom in a bit? or make it so the game fills up the screen? Full screen works but the game map only takes up like 1/4 of the screen.

Drag and resize the window. Also, most of us play with some other subwindows opened, e.g., inventory/equipment list, display messages, monster/object recall, monster list, item list.

But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Do definitely that. The default font is quite small compared to the biggest ones available.

The Screenshot looks like Animeband. Try checking the lib/fonts folder in that and copying the fonts over.

EDIT: Nevermind, Animeband didn't have an Alchemist class. But, it still appears to be an Angband Variant, so the part about copying from the font folder of the variant should still work.
I'm trying to think of an analogy, and the best I can come up with is Angband is like fishing for sharks, and Sil is like hunting a bear with a pocket knife and a pair of chopsticks. It's not great. -Nick

Re: original post: Press the = key while you are in a game and then go to User Interface Options (top of list) and then you'll see half way down there is an option for "show walls as solid blocks" (j) option. Toggle that to 'yes' and it should get something at least closer to what you remember.
