Problem with my quiver in 4.0.1

I don't know if I'm just stoned or what but I can't seem to access my quiver. At all. I can't even see it. My inventory tells me I have 21 missiles equipped, which happened automatically when I picked up 21 iron shots, and now I can't see them or unequip them or anything. Even when I take off my sling.

Is there a new command? Or did I forget how to play? I've been playing DCSS and ToME4 lately and came back when I saw the new versions. HELP!

    It's | (shift-\).

That extra bit was because the message was too short, and the forum wouldn't let me post. Not that I thought you were stupid.

You should find your quiver opens to choose from if you use the 'f'ire command, or you can open it directly with '|'. You can also use the right and left arrows from any object selection menu to go between equipment, inventory, quiver and floor.

This just blew my mind. Thanks! I'm either getting old, or this is all new. I'm hoping it's the latter lol

Mine was blown as well. Didn't know that.

I'm on Windows and when I look at the command descriptions in the game help, there is no key mentioned next to quiver. It looks like

          Quiver ('')

But when I look at the command.txt file with Notepad++, the | is in there.

I have an unrelated question: Has something been changed with the level feelings? I feel like they used to vary more. I haven't gotten a number higher than 3 on either danger or treasure, and I'm at about dlvl 18 or so. I remember occasionally finding higher fluctuations even early on in 3.5

Also, is there a way to find out what effect wand of wonder has just had? The only indication is the color of the projectile, and occasionally something like burning up scrolls, but otherwise I don't know what exactly just killed my target. Just a minor inconvenience, but I feel like there must be a way to check after the fact, am I right?

I'm new to 4.0.1 as well. I've gotten 4's for danger, and up to a 6 for treasure. I've found artifacts with 5's. The 6 turned out to be several ego items. I've not found an artifact on anything less than 5 though.

Artifacts on 5s eh? I still remember back when they had "special" feelings when there was an artifact.

I just found Elvagil with a 5, and the text says "yet there may be something worthwhile here."

Interesting. The feelings are more vague it seems. I'm ok with that. I did like it when it was obvious that there was an artifact, but I can adjust

I believe there's (or at least there used to be) a special rule in the level feelings calculation that if there's an artefact on the level, the treasure feeling immediately gets bumped up to a 5 even if the artefact itself is so weak and useless it wouldn't normally generate a feeling that good. The logic being that artefacts are still special and interesting even if they're not actually any good, so they automatically count as "something worthwhile".

This is why I love randarts. They are always interesting (occasionally anticlimactically) and I equate the feeling of finding a new randart with the feeling of christmas morning as a young child.
