Is Angband evil? What do you think?

Tell me, is there any of this game any good?
Whether it is teaching anything? I played intensely for three months in this game and was pleased. But now, a year later, I wondered if I should regret the time spent. Help me to solve this issue.
I would also like to note that after Angband I can not play other computer games. They seem too easy. More Angband prompted me to read The Silmarillion. While that is all that I can identify as a "favor" of the game.

Are you enjoying playing? Then it's good. This is getting close to arguments over whether playing games is time wasting. I'm getting close to where a game I play is my profession. So playing Angband is "wasting time" which would be better spent playing another game. Kinda amusing, really.

I would like to play sometimes, but I did not have the patience .I dive too fast and lose. A year ago, I felt a very strong desire to play. But it's almost gone with my first victory.

It teaches you to pay attention to details and virtue of patience and futility of greed. It also makes you smarter (many games do, but problem-solving games like angband especially so).

I find those very valuable in real life too.

Now I play chess very hard for the third month. Perhaps it is much better, than Angband. But Angband was really a lot of fun It looks like I have renewed their desire to play.

If you are looking for the ultimate game, I suggest trying go, the japanese board game.

                    Maybe try playing a variant.

EDIT: And yes, Angband isn't just evil, it's the home of evil

I don't think it's evil- it's a hobby. We all have different ways we use our time. Some work is "productive," some is "not productive."

Angband stimulates the imagination, creativity, problem-solving, builds patience, and increases attention-span. I also find it helps immerse me in Tolkien's world- having read all the books, this is like participation.

I think a lot of other violent/cruel games are more evil- in Angband the violence is all implied, not shown. However, this brings up a point in my mind and now I want to start another thread about game violence-- maybe this forum is evil! Haha.

Is it really Angband developing mental abilities, as said Timo? Indeed, after a game my success in mathematics and physics improved. But was there a direct relationship?
Also I'm only 17 years old

Many games do, it's just matter of "what else would have you done, if you would not be playing angband". If your other passion would be to learn quantumrocketsurgery then it wouldn't be that good, wouldn't it?

Surprisingly (to me) also playing music increases your mental skills. Especially if the instrument requires both hands doing different things. Apparently it increases communication channels between your brain halves.

Leonardo da Vinci could write with both hands left hand doing mirror writing. Quite a feat, I can hardly write decent stick letters with my left hand.

Light physical exercises also makes you smarter.

As a chess, go and angband player, I can honestly say that all have positive qualities in terms of problem solving, rewarding patience, planning and sensible decision making, and punishing greed and rash ideas.

I also play Counter Strike, read fiction books and a ridiculously time consuming Medieval warfare MMO that do none of those things (although I suppose CS probably helps handling stress under pressure I guess).

I have work time, hobby time, kids time, wife time. They all serve a purpose - if my hobby time simply chills me out and increases the enjoyment factor of my life, it has a positive effect on all the other three more important things too, so I'm neither going to give myself a hard time over it, nor over analyse it in any more detail than I already have
