I found a power Dragon scale male - and it is of course quite cool. I just wondered ... all theother scale males i found where from Dragons you can Encounter. I never encountered a power Dragon so far tho. Is this the relict of a faded species?

Yes there used to be Power dragons, back when there were no Wyrms

What was the reason for the elimination of power dragons? I feel they would make a good very late game opponent, resists almost everything, breathes almost everything (what's the name of the hound that does that?) but drops a large amount of loot.

Hmm…am I misremembering? Maybe back in Umoria times? I looked at the source for frog-knows and I don't see a Power Dragon in there.

Well I can't find any reference to a "Power Dragon" in either Angband or Moria references so I must have been hallucinating.

Great Wyrms of Power were a ZAngband addition, and got imported into other variants descended to or related to ZAngband. Vanilla never had them. The closest you get is either the Great Wyrm of Balance, or the Aether Hound, depending on your perspective.
