    save file on multiple computers

i would like to be able to play angband on my home PC as well as on my laptop (when i am away from home).

my idea is to place my save file(s) on google drive whenever i have finished playing. the next time i play, i can copy back the relevant file(s) if i am on the other computer.

what files do i need to copy? is the one save file sufficient (the file in the save folder that has the character's name)? do i need to copy across and other files for the keymaps?

    thanks!

A reasonable alternative would be to use an ssh or telnet connection to play, although I don't know of any public angband servers, so this could require some setup...

      re: save file

So far i know just copying the save file would be enough. The high scores are kept in a different file tho - if you feel the scores would be required to be identical on all Computers too.

If you have any .prf files in your user directory (\lib\user on windows, Documents/Angband/user on OSX, ~/.angband/Angband on Linux), they may be needed too.

From version 4.0 on, other useful files may be in this directory too (like monster memory).

Angband 3.5 is 25Mb, Google Drive is 10Gb or more. Install the entire game in the Google Drive folder. Google drive will sync it to all computers you log into it on.

This! I think using google drive auto update would be way easier ^^. just make a shortcut to desktop and dont need to worry about anything. (if you always have internet connection, of course.)...

Or just put the game into a usb stick/sd card and play from there if you want the exact same game (with scores). and no internet available at all times.

I have it in my DropBox folder. No matter where I am (home, work, whatever), it's always there and up to date. Works like a charm!

                thanks for al the help!

what i have done is this (and it works like a charm):

i copy the save, user, and apex folders onto my drive after i have finished playing. when i want to play from a different location, i just copy those folders to the local copy of the game.

my subwindow setup is quite different on my laptop compared to my dual monitor setup on my desktop, so having the whole angband on drive meant i had to keep changing my system-specific settings. by keeping a local copy og angband on each location from which i play, i can have system-specific setups for each one.
