    Ulfang the Black summons...

"Ulfang the Black summons its kin. The Berserker tramples over Ulfang the Black."

It should be "his minions" in this case, or at least "his kin". Then IMHO summoners shouldn't be able to get obliterated by their summons.

Ha ha ha ha. Adventurer says to Ulfang, "Ye rolls de dice, ye takes yer chances!"
“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Angband needs a record/playback function. This would be perfect to see in gif format (perhaps spliced in with a humorous picture of Ulfang's last moment).

It would also be nice to be able to play back the last 10 turns before you die. It'd be relatively simple to write a file that logs the various things that happened. Playback is beyond my ken though.

It is more fun to add actual replay function, which records player's actions and initial random seed.

How do you set this up? I wish to re-watch myself dying stupidly. And can you speed up/slow down recordings?

The gcu port can be played in a terminal window in linux or (with some work) OS X. It may be playable in windows under cygwin or msys, I'm not sure.

Here is a guide to ttyrec, which will record what's happening in a terminal.

If you're really keen, you can live broadcast with termcast.

I have a GCU port in PWMAngband, which was easily obtained by recompiling with PDCurses. I bet it should be as easy to recompile a GCU port for Angband for Windows.

Pete Mack wrote code to record and playback angband games a few years ago - did it not survive in the repo anywhere?

I love the OP. I don't think that's broken at all, it's excellent.

I was just compiling animeband the other day and it has something in there to do the same thing (it's called 'chukuii' or something???) Maybe this was the Japanese Peter Mack equivalent
