    I feel cursed

    I'm really enjoying 3.5, it's a big improvement.

The trouble is I accidentally slipped on the cursed leather boots of Wormtongue. I've got a kicking pair of pumps with +9 speed I'm dying to try out back at number 8, but I'm stuck.

I thought I could explore the dungeon until I found a *REMOVE CURSE* scroll but no joy.

Is it true there's no remove curse in 3.5?

On a side note, my ranger has found 8 Raal's, 5 Tenser's, 5 Mordenkainen's and not a single Kelek... is this bad luck or a bug?

Thanks in advance for any help

Try some enchant armor scrolls, they will eventually break the curse.

The books, well that's only the RNG playing its games. ^^

I had the same problem for my latest character. I don't know the percent chance of success per scroll, but for me it took 2-3 Enchant Armour + 1 *Enchant Armour* until I managed to break the curse. *Enchant* makes multiple attempts so in my case probably 4-5 attempts before success.

Usually you find all mage books when playing priest before finding all priest books and vice versa. RNG has been rather nice to me lately though, no finding Godly Insights last like she usually teases me.

I broke curse from Calris in my current game with my first enchant weapon scroll. It can happen with first. Or it might take a lot of them. Try not to care about the curse, then it works with the first one

Yup, I recently broke Gorlim's curse with a lucky roll on a use-ID of a lesser Enchant Weapon scroll. Early on I just read them as I find them, but later, especially when the *Enchant* scrolls appear in numbers, I save them for the few useful cursed items and/or ammunition.

It would be cool if the game had scrolls of "Protect item from..." to give an item safety from one or more item-degrading/destroying elements. Would be nice to find one while having a couple of items you want to protect, and being forced to choose. Hardly sounds OP, either, since all artifacts resist base.

I believe it's a flat 25% chance to break curse when you read an enchant scroll.

                FAangband has this...
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Thanks guys, a few enchant scrolls did the trick. I was too busy looking for remove curses.

In other news, I've picked up another 4 Tenser's and no sign of Kelek anywhere.

                  The search goes on.

To make it less annoying you can inscribe !k!d on the books you already have and squelch them. The !k prevents you squelching the ones in your inventory without confirmation and the !d stops you dropping or selling them without confirming.

Combine with @m{number} for even more fun.

How deep are you? Kelek's is the last mage book, so it's native close to 5000'.

Something like 4500' or so is where they begin to appear, a bit earlier in vaults.
