    Generation of non-contiguous level: normal?

Is it normal that you can get a dungeon level with disconnected sections, so part of it can only be reached by tunneling or teleportation?

If so, cool. If not, I got one in 3.5, FYI. Not until DL78 though, so it doesn't seem to be common, unless I got one I didn't know about before I can easy mapping available.

The only time I've gotten that when I've been able to detect hidden doors is when there is a vault on the level which has taken out the bridging section.

As I recall the dungeon-generation code doesn't actually check for connectedness, but it occurs so rarely no-one has ever bothered to add a check. I've never noticed a disconnected section in playing 'bands off and on for over 10 years.

There is actually a connectedness check, and I think you may have more or less identified a failure point in it. I believe it counts the level as connected if all floor, door and vault squares are connected, and those vault squares can be walls.

Personally I don't really consider this to be a flaw. Even if the vault tiles are walkable, that doesn't mean you're going to want to walk past the vault to access the rest of the level. And by the time vaults start getting generated you should have the ability to cope with a disconnected level.

Vaults start at 250'. That's the earliest CGV I have seen. Unfortunately it was with char that I gave The One for testing purpose (I wanted to see if drain life from The One is faster than I gain XP at start of the game), so couldn't really use that as insane start to game.
