Saving game... failed!

I just put in a new hard disk for my computer, re-installed windows, moved my Angband directory into the same folder as it was before on old HD. I can open the save and play, but when I quit and save I get the message Saving game... failed!

Is there anything I can do?

My guess would be that you don't have permission to write to the save folder, but if your structure is the same I don't see why that would be the case. Maybe something to do with admin privileges?

What happens if you 'import' normal savefiles in V? Is that still even a thing? Would that make a new file (hopefully with write permissions)?

Thanks Nick, it was the permissions. It works now!

Just back to Angband after 4-5 year break. Started with Moria long time ago. I can't understand how I forgot the whole game for such a long time..

Something like this, but you might need to take ownership of the file/folder. Even if you use the same username, windows ids are unique, and it might think you don't have permissions on the file.
