    Having a 'Legendary' savings throw, is there any circumstance where I would lose a savings throw? (Even if highly unlikely)

    You get saving throw against all paralyzing attacks including melee-attacks. Slowing spells also, but inertia and gravity still slow you down.

    Also all of the damaging curse variants will fail (it yells DIE! You die -more-)

    I feel like I can dive some more, or am I missing something? Of course speed would be nice.
    Do a crash-dive to 4000' and stop for speed. 4000' is where RoS hide.

    You no longer need anything giving you only FA, you have Legendary saving throw, which means it is over 100% (don't remember how much over, but over nevertheless).

    I just got The Great Axe of Eonwe, so I think it is ok now. Swapping HA for Eonwe only drops Wisdom by 2, and the plus 2 to Con really helps. Now if I can only find a den of White Dragons...

    Not really. You lose zero failure if you remove your HA weapon and if you switch to Thranduil instead of Dor-Lomin you lose too much from combat stats. OTOH it could free a ring slot: Belegennon instead of Rohirrim.

    It does more damage, but failure rate drop is too big sacrifice for that.

    Keep at home for now.

    Does having a high saving throw help? It just seems that Ancient Dragons don't seem to be all that dangerous, or maybe I have been extremely lucky...
    Ancient single basic element dragons are quite harmless, but anything that resembles a basic ancient dragon and is not is anything but harmless.

    You're imagining complexity where none exists. The Angband monster AI is almost literally:
    Code:
    if (one in monster's spell frequency) {
      pick a spell at random and cast it
    }
    else if (adjacent to player) {
      attack player
    }
    else {
      move towards player
    }
    Ancient dragons only cast spells 1 time in 6, and three of their four spells are Blind, Confuse, and Scare. Thus they only have a 1 in 24 chance of using their breath attack on any given turn. They're mostly threatening because they're fast and have strong melee for when you first start encountering them; if you have speed parity and a decent ranged weapon then they aren't very dangerous.

    Current HP. Don't think save has any effect.
