    Perhaps shrieker mushroom with Grand Master Mystic combo KO in single turn. Or phase spider "come hither" & group of plasma hounds for the same effect. There's always also teleport into graveyard and get pounded by several Black Reavers in same turn. Find a Trapper without FA and get killed by white icky thing. Or some other "RNG will eventually screw you if it can" thing.

          True, but learning that there are situations that lead to instant death if you're not prepared for them is an important thing to learn if they are going to continue playing, and learning that lesson on a tutorial character they're not invested in probably isn't a bad thing.

            They should also learn that dying is not that big a deal in this game and they should not get disappointed if that happens. NOT dying is a big deal.

            - my 2 c for the tutorial:

            1. Teach the importance of knowing what's around you (detection, ESP).
            2. You don't need to kill everything
            3. Running away is not a cowards choice, it is just basic survival.
            4. Choose your battleground wisely. Tight corner is usually a lot less dangerous than open room.

              I'd take a page from Sil's tutorial and give you a character you can play around with, showing off all the main ways of killing things and being improved by the dungeon:

              -Melee
              -Ranged weaponry
              -Damaging spells
              -Stealth
              -Ego-bearing equipment
              -Foo of Free Action right before a floating eye

              And end it with a hard, but tactically possible situation.
