    It was so stupid...

    How to identify new things?

    I was selling them.
I thought it is a good method.
Scroll of identify cost about ~150. Things for sell costes about 30-200(10-12 level of dungeons), so it looks ok.

    But then...
    I sold this...
    potion of experience...
As I saw 31500 gold pieces for buying this back, and that 50k or 100k of experience points, and that fu#$%ng shopkeeper smiled gleefully after I have sold it to him for 7(seven, SEVEN, SEVEN!!!) gold pieces, I almost cried and I wasted 5 minutes of wondering, why, hell, why I have done that...

And being aware that I cannot kill this shopkeeper, and can't chop his/her head off, rip his/her tongue, take my potion back and drink it, makes me really sad...

    Now I drink/read/zap everything...
as long as scroll of identify will be relatively cheap or I drink/zap/read sth very deadly...

PS:maybe wrong forum, remove my post then, but I just have to share with this piece of stupidity...

    PPS:welcome everyone

Hello and welcome. You are in good company - we've all done that. Mine was a potion of augmentation, which is arguably an even greater loss than one of experience ...

I remember back in the early days, playing FA. Farmer maggot dropped a crappy dagger and I had no gold buy a scroll of identify. Although I seldom sold un-ID'd items, I did this time (perhaps my home was already full of un-ID'd crap). It turned out to be a Holy Avenger. That was before I realized that Maggot often dropped useful items.

You sold a wand without engraving with it first?! Tsk tsk. You could still wish for a wand of death and kill the shopkeep, and still have some wishes left over for a blessed can of grease and a t-shirt, the two very best wishes in the game.
          You are on something strange

Also happened to me in the old days when character start was scumming 50ft for money to buy a WoR and selling all potions/scrolls unIDed...

At least now you get object feelings, so you won't sell an xp potion when your dungeon level at 50ft yields an "excellent treasures" feeling.

So it seems that I am in good company

Another not-smart thing done, I have dropped and left potion of strength. I thought that it is just temporary... :/

I was enlightened as I found potion of augmentation and description was similar. Thanks to Magnate's post I have not dropped it, but quaff as soon as possible
                Thx Magnate.

I think berserk strength should do what you thought plain potion of strength would do. Temporary (high) boost to STR.
