    Can't resize window in new Mac OS X front end

    So I play angband (no winners yet, still learning my way around. Gravity hounds killed my best run last week) on a Macbook, and I just upgraded from 3.2 to 3.4. 3.4 replaces the previous Mac front end with a new one. In the new front end, changing the windows size rescales the font rather than displaying more of the map on screen at one time.

    Does anyone know a way to revert to the old behavior other than just sticking with the 3.2 version of the game?

    I could try compiling it myself if all else fails...

    I got a response from ridiculous_fish, who maintains the current OS X front end. This is a longstanding request he hasn't had a chance to implement yet.

    I'm getting used to playing in the more limited window, but I hope this gets done eventually.

      I believe the carbon port still works, and does what you want. You will need to compile it by (in a terminal) changing into the src directory and doing

      make -f Makefile.crb dist

        Thanks for the link. I was trying to find this info, but was looking in the wrong place.

        I'll try the compile at home, I didn't realize the carbon port was still in the source.

          Hm, the main OS X version compiles, but the Carbon port doesn't. I'll move to a thread in the Dev section for compile help.

            I suspect the problem is that Carbon has been deprecated on your version of OSX. Everyone was supposed to have migrated to Cocoa by, like, OSX 10.3, after all.

              That's probably the case. I'm running 10.7. I did find a thread that referenced just compiling a console version, so I'm going to try that and see if that works for me until the Cocoa port is a little more fully baked.

                IIRC I could still compile the carbon port (of FAangband, at least) on 10.7.

                If you're really keen, FA has a Lion makefile for the carbon port here; you might be able to adapt that. Or else you could just use the console port.
