Back when we were discussing new blow calculations for fractional blows, the one I liked the best was one where every class used the same 4 blow formula and certain classes got level dependent extra blows. Rangers, rogues and paladins would get 0.1 extra blows every 5 levels and warriors would get 0.2 extra blows every 5 levels.

All that text means is that Dunadan have innate sustain-CON.

Oh, they do, I was just wondering if the "cannot be reduced" language was coded the same as "sustains" language. Trust me, I tried sustaining all my stats except for the one I was going to raise and I still lost a point.

Race/class restrictions were a stupid idea anyway; they've been gone for years. And yes, that means you can play a half-troll mage. Rather terrible at spellcasting until you hit stat gain of course, but on the flipside they have comparatively great survivability, and regeneration oddly enough means that they recover mana very quickly.

On the Dunadan, when it says that constitution can't be reduced does that mean that the +1/-1 potions also won't reduce CON?
I'm pretty sure that the +1/-1 potions bypass stat sustains.

Going back to the H-T Warrior for a sec, IIRC once I maxed out my STR, DEX, and Level, I still couldn't get the full 6 attacks/round with a Mace of Disruption. Somewhat disappointing.

Why not just tell the game to create the stairs on the nearest space that doesn't have items on in it? For example, you could even turn a rock wall into stairs (although this would have the side effect of possibly ruining an anti-summoning tunnel or letting a bunch of monsters through a wall).

Looking at the code, it will try to place the staircase on an adjacent space that does not contain an artifact or permanent wall. Any other objects will be destroyed.
We could just invoke "push_item" on that square and move all the items to another square.

Does the game by any chance create stairs where Sauron was when he died and destroy all items on that square in the process?

I wasn't going to use those arrows on Morgoth but it was still annoying if that is what happened.

Oh, btw, Morgoth is dead also. Add a High Elf Ranger to the win list for this thread: Dwarf Priest, Gnome Mage, Half-Troll Warrior, and High Elf Ranger.

What race should I use for Paladin?
    Dunadan of course.

Hm, I guess that was changed at some point (possibly in a variant), because you're right, it seems that chaos doesn't destroy anything in current Vanilla. My mistake.

does it? I don't remember chaos destroying anything at all... manastorm destroys everything.

Er, I'm pretty sure chaos destroys everything except artifacts.

Looking at effects.c "balance" is random breath from selection chaos, shards, sound and disenchantment, not just one type of breath. Same thing with pseudo, multihued, chaos and law, you get random element from original dragon form with each activation.

Shard and sound destroy potions, chaos or disenchantment don't affect items onto ground (chaos might polymorph monsters and I'm not sure if monster inventory survives that).

PDSM seems to be exception to the rule, it breathes "GF_missile" which is pure unresistable damage that doesn't destroy anything.
