A Few Questions/Observations From an Old Player

Back when we were discussing new blow calculations for fractional blows, the one I liked the best was one where every class used the same 4 blow formula and certain classes got level dependent extra blows. Rangers, rogues and paladins would get 0.1 extra blows every 5 levels and warriors would get 0.2 extra blows every 5 levels. -

Oh, they do, I was just wondering if the "cannot be reduced" language was coded the same as "sustains" language. Trust me, I tried sustaining all my stats except for the one I was going to raise and I still lost a point.Leave a comment:

On the Dunadan, when it says that constitution can't be reduced does that mean that the +1/-1 potions also won't reduce CON?
Going back to the H-T Warrior for a sec, IIRC once I maxed out my STR, DEX, and Level, I still couldn't get the full 6 attacks/round with a Mace of Disruption. Somewhat disappointing.Leave a comment:

Hobbit Paladin? I take it the race/class restrictions aren't actually enforced by the game? Might be entertaining to play a H-T Mage.

Why not just tell the game to create the stairs on the nearest space that doesn't have items on in it? For example, you could even turn a rock wall into stairs (although this would have the side effect of possibly ruining an anti-summoning tunnel or letting a bunch of monsters through a wall).

We could just invoke "push_item" on that square and move all the items to another square.Leave a comment:

Hobbit paladin.
Looking at the code, it will try to place the staircase on an adjacent space that does not contain an artifact or permanent wall. Any other objects will be destroyed.Leave a comment:

I finished pincushioning Sauron with two types of Arrows of Acid just a bit ago and I noticed that one type was completely gone after he died. I also noticed that the square he had been sitting on while getting shot now had stairs.
Does the game by any chance create stairs where Sauron was when he died and destroy all items on that square in the process?
I wasn't going to use those arrows on Morgoth but it was still annoying if that is what happened.
Oh, btw, Morgoth is dead also. Add a High Elf Ranger to the win list for this thread: Dwarf Priest, Gnome Mage, Half-Troll Warrior, and High Elf Ranger.
What race should I use for Paladin?Leave a comment:

Hm, I guess that was changed at some point (possibly in a variant), because you're right, it seems that chaos doesn't destroy anything in current Vanilla. My mistake.Leave a comment:

does it? I don't remember chaos destroying anything at all... manastorm destroys everything.Leave a comment:

Shard and sound destroy potions, chaos or disenchantment don't affect items onto ground (chaos might polymorph monsters and I'm not sure if monster inventory survives that).
PDSM seems to be exception to the rule, it breathes "GF_missile" which is pure unresistable damage that doesn't destroy anything.Leave a comment:

I just found some Balance Dragon Scale Mail and I noticed that it allows me to breathe "Balance".
I'm assuming that monsters can't resist Balance; what does it destroy (potions, scrolls, etc.)?Leave a comment:
