Amnesia has the following effects, judging from my quick read of the source:
* Cannot read scrolls
* Cannot browse books (but can still learn spells and cast them)
* Device skill reduced to 80%
It used to instead clear your dungeon map and make you forget the identification state of all items you were carrying that weren't *Identified* -- flavorful but tedious. The new ailment is mostly interesting in that it makes scrolls un-usable, which nothing else in the game does.

Ok, my level 50 Gnome Mage on level 89 just got tagged with amnesia while clearing an Undead vault. This is apparently a new effect from what I'm used to.
What does amnesia do (besides setting the failure rate on all my spells to 50%), how long does it last, and what are the options for dealing with it?Leave a comment:

Yeah, I was facing both a Dracolich and a Dracolisk at the same time since Glaurung was being annoying and I didn't remember which one breathed the Nexus.
I might have just been unlucky on the roll and had the 6/7 damage for 342. I was eyeballing the damage and didn't write down the numbers; I took about 400. As such, since I'm going to be lazy and not test it, I'm going to assume that it is working correctly. ;-)Leave a comment:

Dracoliches don't breath nexus, but Dracolisks do. Nexus is one of the weird ones, yes, where your damage ranges from 1/2 to 6/7 of normal (and the max damage from a breath is, yes, 400). I would expect that resistances would still be working; I don't think anyone's changed that code in awhile. Still, it's reasonably easy to test; summon up a dracolisk in wizard mode and wait for it to breathe on you, then see what damage you take.Leave a comment:

Are you folks sure that the Nexus resistance on Boots of Stability is working? I took about 400 points of damage from a dragon (think it was a Dracolich) on a breath weapon that it said I resisted. When I checked it said the max was 400.
Of course, Nexus is one of those odd resistances isn't it?Leave a comment:

Nexus resist and perfect saving throw prevent all forms of teleport level and nexus resist prevents all teleportations by nexus side-effect, but you don't get any protection against any other forms of teleportation. Nexus Q teleportation is not nexus effect, just plain teleportation.Leave a comment:

1. I recently tried using a Rod of Drain Life to target a monster on the other side of a group of monsters. I ended up killing one of the intervening monsters so apparently Drain Life uses the bolt targeting code instead of the ball targeting code. Is this working as intended?
2. Gnomes have wand/staff ID and free action? It would be nice if the character screen specified the racial advantage.
3. When you hit monsters with Meteor Storm (or whatever the name is from Raal's), the message includes monsters fleeing after they've already been destroyed, which seems a bit odd. Probably a result of a flag being set for fleeing in the middle of the 4 separate attacks.
4. Just nitpicking but I ran across a message where I "freez" a monster - I would normally expect to "freeze" monsters.
5. Does anybody happen to know the Teleport percentage for Rift?
6. Is there any way to stop monsters from teleporting me? Apparently Boots of Stability don't manage to do that in 3.3.2; I thought I recalled them working that way in an earlier patch.Leave a comment:

The gauntlets do, but the auto-beam flag doesn't. Trivial to bring it back though (but in fact better done as a property of the activation than as an object flag).Leave a comment:

I believe the answer is no in both cases. Certainly I've never seen Life Drain / Annihilation beam, and I'm pretty sure I've never seen artifact bolt activations beam either. Come to think, I don't think there are any artifacts that activate for a beaming effect, period. All of the offensive ones are bolts or balls. Or "everything in line of sight".Leave a comment:

Thanks, folks.
A couple more questions:
Do artifacts get a chance to beam (e.g. Narthanc)?
Do skills/wands like Life Drain and Annihilation get a chance to beam?Leave a comment:
