    Blessed by the Gods?

    Ok, noob question:

Does the phrase "It is blessed by the gods." have any significance or is merely flavor?

While I've been playing roguelike off and on the last 15 years, starting with Moria, I've recently rededicated myself to finally beating the damn thing. I'm now the farthest I've ever been, which is a mere 1550'

But since I've just started seeing artifacts and egos, I really have no idea wtf they do.

Can be wielded by priests without penalty. So if it's a blunt weapon anyway, it makes no difference; if it's sharp and you're playing a priest, it becomes a potentially useful weapon.

Note that Blessed and *Slay Evil* weapons also have a special ability. That means 1 in 5 of them give ESP. (Holy Avenger weapons, which are also 'blessed by the gods', give only See Invisible and a random sustain, but usually are significantly better as melee weapons.)

          (Playing Frog)
I keep wondering : does Blessed do anything on amulets or launchers ?
I think I've also seen it on rings, and never noticed any effect but... why allow it there then ?

EDIT : Didn't notice the search result wasn't in variants Was so proud of 15-y necroing THE thread covering the precise right topic

            almost.

*Slay* weapons have 1 additional EGO feature, such as pBlind, pConf, HLife etc .. or ESP.
This applies to any type of *Slay*, be it Giants, Animals, Demons, etc.. plus obviously Blessed weapons.

Nothing quite like a Whip of *Slay Animals* +2 INT, ESP when playing Mage.

...and here's the problem with thread necromancy. Pete's answer was correct in early February 2008, just before the release of 3.0.9a.

Yeah.. but I'm not fond of the concept of creating multiple posts about the same questions.
I might just not be used to forums enough to appreciate it right.
I was more embarrassed with a variant question posted in Vanilla section

Anyway, thanks for the quick answers (and sorry if necroing was a stupid move), but was my question actually answered ?
I'm afraid the "Blessed" perk on non-edge-weapons randarts is just a design mistake (wasting some power for something useless), but learning I'm wrong would have been a fun discovery

No criticism intended - I just found it amusing. And I'm not 100% sure about frog, but I suspect blessed is useless on everything but sharp weapons.
