Artifacts are now affected by *destruction*

So my question is if you *destruct* and an artifact was in the area but unidentified does it survive or is it lost? Also does it survive even if it was IDed?

I for one think that having artifacts be affected by *destruction* is annoying because I used to use *destruction* to clear out all the worthless items that you get from clearing pits. But that is just me.

If you haven't learned the artifact's name (by picking it up or identifying it off the floor) then it doesn't count as seen and can be generated again.

Destruction removes artifacts to get rid of the exploit where you could destroy a vault and pick through what was left. Pits shouldn't generate so many items that sorting through the loot should be a huge issue, at least not in the post-TMJ versions (which should also be the versions where destruction nukes artifacts).

Dragon pits still generate a lot of loot, it's a bear in 3.3.0 to sort through it. I imagine it's worse in v4. I actually usually rarely bother squelching anything until I hit my first dragon pit, and then it's often "all but artifacts".

IMO better solution to that would be not letting destruction and earthquake to affect vault area. Vaults are already special in a way that you can't teleport in them, and as definition vault should protect things inside them, so protecting against destruction and earthquake "feels logical".

I don't like the idea that destruction removes artifacts either. I can live with it, but it is not improvement to game. Small "exploits" like that actually brings some flavor into game. They are tricks you learn that noobs would not know until accidentally stumble upon. I think there should be more of those (like OoD destroying cursed items in older versions). Side-effects that are beneficial but not immediately obvious that take time to learn.

I had been playing FA for awhile and forgot that *destrution could effect vaults. Personally I think that *destruction* shouldn't affect vaults at all....or artifacts. But since I have no programing skills my opinion doesn't really matter...besides I could just go back to an older version, right?

Good point...but it does feel kinda cheap to just *destruct* a vault and pick through the artifacts.

Agreed, that was a bit too easy. CGV with *destruction* available was too lucrative.

I would remove also mass banishments and banishments from affecting vaults. No removal of items or monsters, except teleport other (removing that too would just make majority of GV:s too hard to deal with).

Yep, which is why more of you should give FA a try...especially people that are all like " Angband is too easy".

Why is it that every time someone suggests something to angband that I agree, there is a comment "FA already have this.".

I might have to try FA someday...

[EDIT] typo corrected (something -> someone)
