    Cliche suggestion: the trapped item

    This is cliche. Nonetheless...

Wouldn't it be cool if, every once in a while, a trap appeared on the same space as a floor item? Especially good floor items?

Wouldn't you need a special character to denote "trap with item on top of it"? I doubt there are enough unused characters to convey all the possible item types. And I think the item-on-trap would be a royal pain from a UI perspective unless it was just as easy as usual to tell the item type at a glance.

I don't think traps are an especially useful game feature except as (A) a Create Traps spell like in Heng and (B) as a vault defense method. Traps don't present that much game excitement unless they come in conjunction with monsters IMO. But they are good flavor of course.

FayAngband. It's very cool, even when you get burned.

In FA I've already made traps a completely separate layer from terrain and objects, so they can co-exist easily.

What do you mean I'm not Nick?

I read that just after waking up in the morning - it was really quite confusing.

You are not. You are Jeff and Diego. We also did that in NPP a long time ago. Clearly all the best variants do it this way.

pls you are destroying this game. If ppl want to get hit by trap so much when they step on item, they can just step on item and go and step on trap after. I really wish you will think again about this terrible decision
