While the game only lets @ wear 2 rings, this is because @ has 8 rings (slots are squelched so they don't show up) of +1 arm. This is how he manages to wield all those things and still be able to pick up/drop/rummage through his inventory/etc.

It would be funny (at least, for a short while and for people who didn't get their coffee this morning) if there was a variant that required free hands to do all that stuff, but let the player grow extra arms (and thus be able to do more / wield more) as he gained levels or maybe found "potions of extra arms", until the player had all the equip slots and could *still* do all the other stuff players do.

I'm most impressed with @ in that, no matter how many @s have been brutally slain in the dungeon, they just keep coming until Morgoth goes down.

I'm also impressed with the long-term planning of @. He or She always manages to father/bear a child before heading to the dungeon so there's a descendant to avenge them after they die.

Then there's the strange ability @ has of gaining the memories of his dead ancestor, and the fact that this ability perfectly remembers everything they knew about monsters, but nothing about items, flavors, etc.

With +8 Arms, @ should get 40 extra fingers. I demand the immediate implementation of ring slots 3 through 42!

I hope you meant ring slots 11 through 50. Remember, 3-10 are permanently taken!
If you can convincingly pretend you're crazy, you probably are.

Nah, I count the permanently taken ones as -7 to 0.

This extra arms thing looks slippery:
with 40 extra ring slots, we can get another 40 arms!...

Does that come with encumbrance? or a vision penalty? would you still be able to walk, I wonder?

Rather, I'll assume that all @'s are highly proficient Battle Jugglers. From Level 1. Even when their Dex is drained to 1. and they're slowed, confused and blind.
            Because that makes more sense.
You should save my signature. It might be worth something someday.

              There's a good Variant-fodder class:

              The battle juggler:
He can carry more items than other players, but can only use a subset of them on any given turn, as the others are 'in the air'. So one turn he uses his artifact sword, the next he has a spellbook to cast from, the next a wand of cold balls, etc.

I guess they would die off one after another as @s heart can't pump enough blood through ALL of the arms. :P

Apparently @ learned the art of juggling from a Skandar.

In Ragnarok you could get mutated & grow extra fingers (for extra ring slots) & extra eyes (I think from memory 1 of the beasties could peck them out). 1/2 the game seemed to be about growing as many extra appendages as you can for more gear slots.

Nah, rings of extra arms aren't required. What @ has is a bag-of-holding-like external-frame backpack featuring attachment points for @'s melee weapon, shield, and bow. Grabbing the appropriate one of these from the external mounting is a free action, which Angband simulates by having them all "wielded" simultaneously. But digging into the pack for other equipment (i.e., to swap) is more difficult, and consumes a full turn.
