It's an interesting suggestion. Although, I'm not sure how much it'll help. Dlevels 20-50 is about the point where I find a good enchanted bow and that usually becomes the way I kill monsters. Maybe keeping the same HP but raising speed or upping breath frequency. I dunno.

Another way to make mature dragons, and every other moderate to deep monster, more dangerous is to put !CCW back to under 30 hp of healing. So long as everybody can carry essentially unlimited 80 hp 0% fail healing, monsters are much easier to deal with.
I disagree. I don't normally use !CCW for healing, I use it to remove blindness, stunning and confusion. I certainly don't use it in battle, it doesn't heal enough. When I do use it for healing, I use many of them after I've gotten out of danger. Would it matter if I had to chug 10 instead of 5? probably not. This would have no effect on my gameplay, except it would probably become more tedious. (!CCW heals 60 not 30.)

Now what I might think interesting is to remove the status-healing from the cure_wounds potions. Let them heal 60 hp but only hp. have another potion of curing that removes status effects. Then things become a little more interesting. However, this is off-topic.

Oh yes [interested] what changes have been made?

Does this mean people are currently encountering a lot of OOD Dracolisks/lichs around 1200-1500'? I can see that's a problem you'd want to fix.

I didn't put these in. I don't know the details, I vaguely remember d_m or magnate talking about it though. I do now that I encountered monsters 10 levels OoD regularly in my last game. It seems to occur a lot between dlevels 20-30 when there are lots of OoD monsters to choose from. I remember encountering a death knight on dlevel 25 or so and being lucky that I was able to ?TL the hell out of there.

We can also bump up that frequency by making OoD checks easier to pass. I'm actually curious how the later levels look with enforced minima and that's probably going to be in the next game I play.

Or keep the healing rate, but increase the nutrition value accordingly. No fun drinking potions if drops your speed by 10. And that might even make !Salt Water slightly more worthwile....
