    Sound issue

For some reason sound does not work and gives the following error under Ubuntu 11.04:
./angband: Couldn't open mixer: No available audio device
./angband: Failed to load sound config

Obviously sound does work in other programs, even SDL ones.

    Have anyone else problems?
Could it be a problem of conflicting SDL versions?

Which version? If you are playing a dev version more recent than 3.2.0, sound is off by default and needs to enabled in the game options. If this is happening in 3.2.0 then I'm not sure what is going on, as I can't reproduce that problem.

      It is 3.2.0.

      EDIT: Also another bug.

I usually inscribe my spellbooks, but I haven't done so yet.
Now, when I did try to cast a spell using the 'm1' key sequence instead of 'ma', the game crashes with:
      ./angband: software bug
Adding the relevant inscription allows me to use 'm1' without crashing.

An awful lot of bugs have been fixed since 3.2.0, including that one. Please see trac.rephial.org for full details (or git log if you're using git).

I don't remember sound not working under 3.2.0, but as soon as I can build it again I'll check (for some reason I am getting a segfault when I build it at the moment).

          Update on the sound issue:
I tested FAAngband 1.2.1 and has the same problem with sound in it.

Works fine for me in 10.04. Looks like it's just you

                10.04 - so I guess it's Natty Narwhal's fault.

Problem solved, is was this line in .bashrc that caused it:
                  export SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa

That is because 11.04 uses pulseaudio instead of alsa. Sound also works fine in FA now. I have to check if the other problems I had with other variants was also caused by it.
