What levels are there here on the forum? And how many posts are required to achieve them? I see there are some custom levels, but for us ordinary people...
Definitely shouldn't go back to "nightlies", as we will soon slow back down to one every few weeks ...

The non-custom post count levels are Knight at 500, Veteran at 1000 and Prophet at 2500. Can't remember what's below that.

Do post count levels closely follow Angband class titles?
Being a Knight at 500' makes you look like a slow diver then.
Do we have to fight Morgoth when we reach 5000 posts/feet?

Yes, that was my source. The full list is:

        Rookie (warrior 1)
        Scout (ranger 3)
        Apprentice (mage 2)
        Adept (priest 3)
        Swordsman (warrior 3)
        Knight (paladin 6)
        Veteran (warrior 5)
        Prophet (priest 9)

and finally, one more rank is still waiting to be unlocked

          Hehe, that's a great idea.
I don't see any rogue title yet but they don't sound that good, so that won't be my bet for the final rank

EDIT: Magnate still wins on posts/day, although the title for that AFAIK is DERAKON with 4.37. For comparison, Magnate has 1.84 and Nick 1.81. PowerDiver is at 2.13. IF anyone has a legitimate complaint, please register it now.

            I have 0.05. Do I win anything?

0.03 here. Shall I be ashamed?

I have been playing *bands for years now, even though I tend to stop for long periods of time to play other games, then come back for a few monthes.

Ah, but they can't answer to tell you because then they wouldn't be at 0 anymore.

There are also a bunch of accounts with 0 posts/day but very professional-looking avatars. They also have spammy URLs in their profile signatures. Pav is aware of the issue.

                        Q: So how is everybody?

A: Dead, but thanks for asking. Not entirely convinced by some of the changes to the 'text' (to much random mumbling going on) but I'm loving the new level feelings. At CL40 I got my first 'superb' accompanied by a premonition of death. It wasn't kidding. Disposed of the Witchking, two minor ringwraiths and the Emperor Q, but ran out of mana teleporting between Rooms Full of Ever More Deadly Creatures.

Excellent, glad you like them. On the mumbling - are you spending a lot of time blind? The mumbling should only be coming from unseen monsters ...

The mumbling is mainly an issue with, for example, Nexus Qs - can they even speak? There are a number of monsters that have mumbling, cursing, etc. attributed to them that are not actually casting verbal spells the way a humanoid would. Also, surely after some time a player character (especially a mage) would start recognizing these spells for what they are even without sight; same goes for something like nexus breath from hounds, which is identified as "something strange" even after a character has experienced nexus many times.

3.2.0 probably gave overly complete information concerning monster actions, but the nightlies sometimes obscure information that probably should be known.

I have also peeve with black orcs mumbling and then I get hit by an arrow.

Well, there are two issues here:

                                1. The appropriateness of messages is an artifact of the current (temporary) message implementation. In this thread the requirement for message text specific to each spell is described. At the moment all spells cast by unseen monsters are "mumbles", when things like arrows shouldn't be. This will get fixed, when someone writes the message text.

                                2. The game currently tracks what @ knows about each monster's spell capability, but this is only used in the monster recall code. It could be used in the code which describes the spell message - this is quite an interesting idea. The task above would then extend to require different messages for when the spell is known/unknown.
