    Path to target request

I've noticed the change in the nightlies to show the NPP "path to target" -- very cool!

My only negative comment on this is that it looks a little odd when the game is played with tiles. Would it be possible to have the path to target be shown with some appropriate tile rather than hardcoded as an asterisk?

I'm happy to create the necessary tiles to help out with this.

I have/had this feature in FA, using the tiles that exploding spells use.

Is that hard coded, or stuffed in a prf somewhere? I've never been crazy about that choice of tile, something more discreet maybe.

It's currently hard-coded to use the spell explosions, which are read in from a .prf. It would be feasible to use different tiles, though.

Looking at the code has also made me realise that spell explosions are now broken in FA, so thanks.

Would it be trivial to change it, so that the targeting graphic has it's own unique prf entry (or maybe two entries, one for the targeting LOS and and a second for the target itself).

It would be pretty easy in current FA, or in V 3.2, and probably in current V (pref files have changed in a way I don't get yet).

Excellent, I'll be looking forward to the change .

Here are some 32x32 tiles that may be used for targeting. I made a few different colors since there was some coloring logic in the code.

That's about what I was thinking, some sort of small dot or diamond and a cross-hairs type thing for the actual target.

With the different colors supplied, we could have short, medium, long and out-of-range color coded.

If someone wants to do an overlay crosshair, then at some point I'll work out how to add it to V...
