Out of curiousity, does anyone bother clearing out animal nests for the treasure?

I tried once but gave up because of the Qs.
I do when I can. Multiple Qs, especially the nexus variety, means nests don't always happen. The nexus Qs are worse than drujs since they can phase into the moat and have reverse line of sight on you. Despite my earlier post, I also enjoy clearing graveyards for the treasure. I even sometimes think jelly pits are worthwhile - in one of the comp 97 chars I got 2 good artifacts from a jelly pit in the DL20s.

I agree. It makes no sense for a Q to have the animal flag.

Maybe 'quivering pile of flesh' actually means a pile of different animal body parts all growing together - except for draconic and demonic Qs which should count as dragons and demons respectively...

I'd guess the original intent was to keep them from being evil (susceptible to slay evil). At least that's my guess.

I don't really follow -- the EVIL flag is completely separate from the ANIMAL flag. It's possible for them to be neither evil nor animal.
