    first go at 3.20 (!time_travel, no_selling)

first: i was excited to discover the ongoing development and the recent release. thank you for the work you are doing.

But... I don't *ever* remember seeing anything like this:

In your pack: a Potion of Experience (h).
    You have 12 charges remaining.
You reorder some items in your pack.
    You feel more experienced.
    Welcome to level 17.
    Welcome to level 18.
    Welcome to level 19.
    Welcome to level 20.
    Welcome to level 21.
    Welcome to level 22.
    Welcome to level 23.
    Welcome to level 24.
    Welcome to level 25.
    Welcome to level 26.
    Welcome to level 27.
    Welcome to level 28.
    Welcome to level 29.
    Welcome to level 30.

Uh... woo-hoo!... I guess. Dropped by a snaga, on dl9. If we are going to find them there, maybe rename it !time_travel (and also increase age!)

I haven't found anything else crazy OOD... so maybe it was a big fluke... but maybe there should be no chance.

also, using no_selling i think there is way too much money at the top. I could have gotten a nice stack of !CCW by diving to dl2 and back.

Yep, potions of experience are worth a flat 100k XP, so if you find one early you just got to skip the early game; congratulations.

I found a Potion of Experience on DL2 a month or so back.

Then lost the character to one of the named orcs because I hadn't gone back to town, to purchase a spellbook with escape spells in it.

I hope you do better than I did.

I didn't feel the need to go back to town either, until I was almost done in by an Umber Hulk with a few forest trolls and a murder of crebain (disconnected stairs? what was I thinking!).

Luckily he failed to gaze me on my last !CCW, so I got out of it with my last phase door and a recall.

I've only found FA so far, and have yet to see any ? or _ of teleport, down to DL26 (nearly every one of them 'uninteresting'), nor in town.

Feeling doomed, but maybe my gear is just a little deeper...

I see it's about time to resurrect the "Official Bad Advice" thread?

Be very careful around crebain. In case you didn't notice their shrieks haste everybody (except you) in LoS.

Umber hulks I usually just smash into head. Even when confused you usually land enough blows to kill it or cause it to run away. Just don't try it in open room.

That is strange. I prefer the open room. If the confusion takes me in the wrong direction, perhaps I step away from the hulk and get a turn it does not hit me. OTOH, if confusion takes me the wrong way in a corridor I stay still and it always gets a shot at me.

Why do you prefer to avoid the open room? Are you remembering the old days when bouncing off a wall while confused did not cost a turn?

Er, I think we've regressed to that btw - fizzix spotted it the other day.

EDIT: confirmed - this is ticket #1311.

No. I did mean "in case there are other nasties around" which I did say in my mind but apparently didn't write. Getting surrounded is a bad thing.

I'm not so sure about that thread. Ever since I read it, I keep dying in new ways...
