While targeting with *, the g command appears broken. Most of the time it does nothing. Sometimes it moves the player a step in a seemingly random direction.

Targeting help displayed with ? says g is a valid option -- so it doesn't seem like an intentional change.

To me that is "early game".

This obviously also means that time attacks (like you said) are a lot worse than before. Getting all stats reduced is a bad thing when you are not collecting stat-potions anymore.

I think all potions of stat including gain one, lose one potions work as stat restores.

This does make early game a lot more...interesting.

'Reduced incidence of restores in shops' crossed my mind, but... gone? Gone from shops, or just completely gone? Hmmm. I'd normally have found a couple on the floor by now... and I still haven't seen a mushroom of vigo(u)r...

    You complete bastards.

There are no restores in town anymore AFAIK.
EDIT: Takkaria beat me to it.

Every level advance, but no more stat restore potions. Enjoy.

    Think again.

    No joy, huh?

    This deadpan stuff is fun.

I'm a blundery git who walks into molds and jellies and stuff.

I was pleasantly surprised to see...

    Welcome to level 8.
    You feel less weak.
    You feel less clumsy.
You can learn 1 more spell.

Since this is a discussion thread now, I suggest a matter of simplicity and that is the stealth display. My character has superb stealth and aggravate. If I were a new player I think I would not understand why everything keeps waking up. Maybe if it said Aggravate it would be simpler.

You may wish to refer to the TicketCreation page on the rephial wiki for bug-reporting instructions. I don't think there's one specific thread in which to discuss bugs on the nightlies; it may be easier to start new threads (with appropriate titles) for new issues.

I was using the "naked start" thread in the development forum for bug reports, but I wouldn't call that official or anything.

I noticed that I didn't ID-by-use a Wand of Wonder until I'd gotten two different effects out of it; wonder if that's related to being unable to ID the confusion/sleep wands. IMO Wands of Wonder should ID on first use. Just say they have a characteristic blue glow when used or something.
